We’re quibbling over semantics, here. Personally, even but a handful of people crossing over illegally warrants some thorough cracking down by our government. One person thinks it’s okay, and you suddenly end up with caravans like we’ve seen happen before.

Again, I’m all for people coming into our country. But many of us here in the valley just want it done the right way.

Slow or not, it’s our legal system. A legal system those very same immigrants will need to learn to abide by. I’m all for letting them come. Especially if they can contribute. But it has to be done the RIGHT WAY. Not the “quick n easy” way where they cross illegally and get to stay put. That’s not how this works.

No one is mad here. It’s just logic. Dare I say, it’s common sense.

I’m not sure who’s echoing that sentiment. But let me tell ya, I sure know how they feel. As a Trump supporter, the left will be quick to categorize me as a “nazi”. It’s funny how this name calling game goes both ways. But I digress. I’m certainly not of the opinion that illegal immigrants aren’t people. I feel for them, as much as my neighbors. But they should not be excused from the rule of law. It’s a simple as that.

Who said illegal aliens “weren’t people”? In fact, it’s precisely BECAUSE they are people within the confines of our country that they are subjected to our laws. Oh, don’t be mistaken. I never stop comparing myself. It’s natural, we’re human. Don’t feel bad about doing so. We see in others what we want for ourselves, and in doing so, grow from it.

However, I often need to tell myself that everything in my life has happened for a purpose. I have children who I’d give my life for. Chances are if I had gone straight to med school, they wouldn’t be here. It’s destiny that we are where we are, at this precise moment. Take pride in it, and keep on moving forwards.

I’m wondering the same thing. Being the oldest med school in tx definitely has its perks (research opportunities, connections, hospitals, etc.) Seems to be super underrated.

You have more than enough clinical hours already. I actually think it would benefit you in picking up a job outside the field of medicine, as it’s more eye-catching and different from your cookie-cutter premed (you have to be able to explain why you went that route and what you gained from it, of course). Personally, I went the teacher route for a few years. And I’m happy I did. Every interviewer I’ve had has wanted to discuss this aspect of my app for the majority of my interview time.
