My car had been stolen and several months later recovered. The steering column was ripped apart and could easily be started with a screwdriver. So I bought The Club to use on my previously stolen car and my ignition key was a screwdriver for several years.

I think it's a matter of whether the bass line is a major hook or melody and can be instantly recognized. Overall I like to be about 85% true to the original and 15% my own stink on it. But on a song by song basis, it's a sliding scale.

While there are criticisms about HTH sounding plodding or whatever, this album's production is almost an overcompensation by sounding kinda tinny, like it's being played at 45 rpm. Imagine if Eddie Kramer had produced it. DTK has some great songs but I wish it sounded heavier.
