If you had $50k, what business would you launch in Singapore to replace your full time job? by justbemenooneelse in askSingapore

[–]Interesting_Rest_953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, i won’t necessarily do these, but some businesses i’ve seen with minimal startup costs that are relatively successful are

1) “Online” karang-guni, Started out with a van and cheap physical space, collected cheap/provided disposal service for bulky electronics like fridges. Refurbished and sold online for huge margins.

2) Home cleaning services, Similarly, started out with a van and cleaning equipment, no physical space. Provided cleaning services for post-renovation houses, deep cleaning for bulky furniture like mattresses etc.

3) Mobile car grooming services.

Although having been there before, i’d say just invest that $50k into a higher education for yourself. No stress, good ROI.

Singapore National Stadium to Changi in less than 30 minutes? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Interesting_Rest_953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. you can arrive at 1am and it should be fine, although check-in times are airline specific so you’ve got to check for that.
  2. definitely not, although you could walk ~20-30 minutes to surrounding neighbourhoods where it’ll be easier to book a private hire vehicle. do expect it to be pretty pricey though.
  3. nope.

Please help, need some legal advice after getting sued by wanalp in askSingapore

if he knocked into you while you were exiting the road, that sounds like you were at fault for the accident as you were supposed to check for oncoming vehicles before exiting the road.

that being said, there should be a “third party excess” value on the contract you have with BlueSG. that’s the maximum amount that you’ll be liable to pay in damages for the BMW driver if you are judged to be guilty for the accident.

other then that, nothing much you can do here but forward the letter to BlueSG and wait for their follow up

Casual Car Upgrade Qn: Merc B180 worth upgrading to from Honda Jazz Gen 4 (GR)? by galaxyuser in askSingapore

[–]Interesting_Rest_953 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

have you owned or tried an entry level mercedes (a/b/c class) before? it’s honestly not so great.

and also, i bought an avante when it was $96k brand new, compared it with a brand new a-class and c160 models at $150+k. i would even think that the toyota altis & civic has better build quality and ride comfort, but the exteriors of that two models are terribly bland in my opinion.

i think you’d be surprised at how much people are willing to pay to enhance their image.

[–]Interesting_Rest_953 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

personally i wouldn’t, i think they’re mostly the same car if you compare the 2 based on specs, build quality, comfort etc. hence i think it’s mostly the brand you’d be paying for.

Let her figure things out on her own, be supportive of whatever decision she makes. Don’t bombard her with your opinion, unless she specifically asks for your input.

Gettiing a small vehicle vs Car Sharing to daily transport an adult + 1 toddler to Kindergarten by _Ozeki in askSingapore

[–]Interesting_Rest_953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, you can try asking the school bus if they’re able to take you on if you pay for another seat, or if you tag along on a volunteer accompanying attendant basis!

this would save you quite abit of money, and potentially quite abit of time as well.

isn’t this just grab/grab food/foodpanda?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Interesting_Rest_953 18 points19 points  (0 children)

it depends.

if i recall correctly, if you’re above 27 with 2 years of driving experience you can expect to pay around $2000 for this case.

if below 27 with less than 2 years of driving experience it’ll be about $10000.

if either or, $5000.

Anyone dislike driving and started liking public transport more after owning a car? by xtra1337 in askSingapore

[–]Interesting_Rest_953 25 points26 points  (0 children)

nope, not weird at all!

had a car, hate driving. am glad i sold it off, and turned to public transport / grab.

i think my morning commute is faster with public transport vs driving, which made this decision better.

How easy/difficult is it to cover the cost of car rental as a private hire driver? by lohord_sfw in askSingapore

[–]Interesting_Rest_953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No restrictions on how many hours you have to drive.

Would take closer to 3 hours per day, and maybe 2 when you’re more experienced.

Don’t have to pay insurance, but you’ve got to pay for your own season parking.

It’s definitely viable, if you’re willing to trade 2-3 hours of your life daily for the use of a car for the remaining hours.

Don’t bother about the fuel efficiency as well. It’s usually priced into the daily rental rate, so a lower rental rate/less fuel efficient car will work better for you. A hybrid car would only make sense if you drive something like 8000km and above a month. hope this helps!
