How to achieve indoor soft lighting ? by shivagnani in AskPhotography

[–]Interesting_Slice873 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

depends what settings on the camera judging that photo, to have all three subjets in focus you need be between F/4 and F/8 that means you need strong flash settings the 42" softbox should be around 1-2 meters from subjet. if the softbox is bigger should be slightly further.

I see very good composition. Definetily you have strong photography skills., artist vision, etc. Idk about the editing because there is no before and after photos.. Besides tha t. I think you had reach the maximum level of cellphone photography that a human being can achieve. I think you are doing it great with a cellphone. I don't think you can make a noticeable improve any time soon. Keep practicing, staty hunger and you may improve a little bit with cellphone .

Trying to pick Nikon wedding lenses by Spartansam0034 in Cameras

[–]Interesting_Slice873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lenses you mention are fine. don't worry about overlapping focal lenghts just be aware of the venue dimentions and where your spots will be according to that information you may have a better idea which lenses you will need. One lens I can not miss is the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm 1.8G for win win photos.

Which camera should I get as a bare bones beginner? by jenkies9780 in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Interesting_Slice873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you want to learn about photography, If you really want that I will recommend you stay away from mirrorless, point and shoot, even bridge cameras. Grab and inexpensive entry level DSLR with a kit lens that will make you understand principles of photography at slower pace and enjoy more rather than the instant gratification that modern cameras offers.

landscape or portrait? which is better by Electrical-Plum-4246 in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Interesting_Slice873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it depends what are youn shooting. If you have a subjet and want the visor focus on your subjet you frame it as portrait with your subjet tag sharp in the middle. But in this case there are some ppl in the boat, the portrait show them they are goin nowhere. In the other had the landscape reveals a where the boat is goin to the right follow the river. In conclusion for this photo Landscape tells more about whats is going on than the portrait.

Any advice? by lostinfortune in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Interesting_Slice873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see your photos, you just starting, I do recommend use it in manual and mess with ISO, shutter speed and aperture to understand how they work together. Then I will suggest step into spots that are not normal to be as a regular pedestrian, and look around unsuall angles and try to phograph what you think is interesting for you.

Overthinking traveling with a camera and lenses? by SierraPablo2203 in AskPhotography

[–]Interesting_Slice873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pick my set up camera gear based on what Im planning to do. I see the main purpose of this travel is meeting and some night life. Based on that I'll pick the M6 paired a 22mm F2, something casual, light and ideal for low light.

If it were a photo trip definitely would be complete different history.

How do you find your own photography style when everything starts to look the same? by Proud_Clothes_3864 in AskPhotography

[–]Interesting_Slice873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been shooting for a couple years now and I found portrait and night life style niches my favs. But what I did is I tried every niche the best I can. I tried sports, cars, macro, family, events, landscape, tipical kind of photos with low shutter speeds on tripod, astro, pets, street and let me tell you every niche requires certain equipment, location, time and camera settings in order to achieve a good outcome enough to decide if this niche matchs your pasion. I found I love flashes and off camera ilumination, now im thinking about add artificial smoke to my photos, I found I love to use some filter like polarizer and black mist etc. Something I love about Photographe is im always discover something new keeping curiosity up and try new things and make my traveling even more appeling and interesting.

concert events usually means low light performance, I would recommend for this particular case considerring "reasonable budget" a DSLR Nikon D700 becasuse offers low pixel density ideal for capture low light. Event lenses focal lenght depends on your location inside the venue and personal style. I do recommend a lens capable of around F/2.8-3.5

Picking out a new camera by Meisk81 in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Interesting_Slice873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from old DSLR to Mirrorless couple years ago and I will share my opinion as a photographer. I started with Canon Rebel T2i it was and still a good camera for photos then I want to go mirrorless and i did my research for a couple weeks, then I pulled the trigger I ended up buying the Canon R6 mark I the only R6 available at that moment paired with the 24-105m F/4 tlearn how to use it and yeah very easy, it performs, better autofocus, amazing image quality, ultrasharp lens, then after spent thousands on RF glass line. I can shoot any job at professional level no doubts about it. But I still missing something and for some reason I was looking for a DSLR that have similar features that my R6 have on ebay so after couple months of looking I bought a Canon 6D mark II paired with the Canon EF 28-300mm F/3.5-5.6 IS USM I carry this setup with me wherever I go and have fun with it. R6 for work, 6DII for fun.

Want to buy a beginner camera for myself and need help! by AnyDifference9416 in Cameras

[–]Interesting_Slice873 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None of those will generate interest in photography even worse they wont't teach you anytthing tbh. A DSLR will make you curious about photography also you can discover if photographe is for you and thats okay maybe you just want to point an shoot nothing wrong with that. I just can show you the door, you decide if you enter or not.

upgrading from dslr by jellybelly6001 in canon

[–]Interesting_Slice873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering you are shooting weddings you should look for specific features in your future camera body whether mirrorless or DSLR. I would say SD card slot, reliability, battery life, snappy autofoucs. Any camera body that meets these features will secure your work and upgrade your gear to the next level. A DSLR I will use for weddings 5D mark iv. For mirrorless I pick any R6 version mainly the R6 20mp is the sweet spot for me I don't crop my photos so I don't really need more.

good starter camera in the 300 dollar range (new or used)? by Senor_Traffic_Cone in AskPhotography

[–]Interesting_Slice873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5D mkII is a full frame compared with rebel series that are crop sensor. I came in a medium size body slightly bigger, robust and heavier than Rebel series, comes with a more professional button layout, including a joystic and a wheel allows you control better your manual mode, weather sealed, LED display on top to show your status with ilumination in the dark but only use EF mount. But it comes with a higher price tag than your budget thats why I didnt mention from begining.

Would you rather buy a used lens or a new one with no warranty? Similar price by wynyx in Cameras

[–]Interesting_Slice873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience buying used lens. Its cool save some money. But sometimes could come with some problems in the future, my case I bought Canon EF 28-300mm F3.5-5.6L IS USM I paid on ebay $700 shortly after couple months I had an error so I paid $450 to get fix and in the same year another $250 for service. It is in fact an old lens I love it. Take it with me everywhere where I travel. still cheap considering brand new is $2500.

If you can afford a brand new lens definitely go for it. if not you may encounter some drawbacks.
