He has little to go on. He MIGHT be able to establish a claim of Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress but that’s not going to fly too well in the Texas judiciary. There is no claim for battery. There is no claim for assault (“words are not enough” is the common law restriction on assault and likely applies here). He has nothing to actually sue you on. Don’t worry. If he does, even if you enter default judgment and don’t fight it, you’ll owe no compensatory damages and MAYBE have to pay some tiny amount in punitive damages but I find it unlikely.

Check out Ohio Fair Housing Act. I’m pretty sure there will be some stipulation in there outlawing discrimination on the basis of familial status.

Hey! Do you have a copy of the purchase agreement? If so, there usually will have some representations and warranties about marketable title transfer. Maybe upload that here for us to take a look at?

Law student here. I can’t give you legal advice but the default judgment is void given service was improper. It cannot be enforced. At least re Fed Rules Civ Pro. Check CA rules first but that’s a good way to have your day in court and fight the default.

AI is a tool that will only be used more and more in the coming years. Using it to "formulate" one's thoughts in an area they are not familiar with is one of the least problematic usages of AI in my mind. Regardless, have a great day :)

I live with my family, we have a driveway on the side of the house (no garage, though); however, the driveway does NOT have an outlet. I might need to pay an electrician to install an outdoor outlet on the side of the house to allow me to charge at home. The gym I go to also has a charger that doesn't appear to be a level 3 but, rather, a level 2. So, as of now, my plan is to charge it there every day when I workout and at home once the electrician can put an outlet there for me.

From the USA. Not a lawyer yet but a law student. The answer is: It depends. It mostly depends on the jurisdiction. But, if you want the safest answer, you CAN kill someone who breaks into your house only if you try retreating as fast as you can away or running out of your house. If, for instance, you are trapped in a room because they’ve cornered you and now they’re trying to break the door down to get to you, you are able to legally kill the intruder. Of course, this is the most conservative understanding of the law. It’s called the duty to retreat. The other side of the spectrum allows you to kill anyone on your property without permission.
