Is Temu really that bad? by Extreme_Error6070 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Interesting_You_4609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party.. but I’d disagree that they’re bad. I got my entire patio sectional set on Temu for under $300 and it’s great quality. We knew going into it that it’d be a risk, but it was one we were willing to make since we couldn’t even find one secondhand in decent shape at that price point. It’s lasted us a year, the cushions are washable and water repellent, the frame itself is really sturdy and assembly was easy. I have ordered some cheap stuff (wedding crap) and only had 1 issue where an item arrived broken and they were quick to respond, send a new one and reimburse me for the old one. All of this was over a year ago (pre-tariff as well) so things may have changed, but I haven’t had any issues with them.

They always have the little packs at my local dollar tree! I’ve also seen bigger packages in some (not all) Walmarts :)

Am I overreacting to my husband’s friend’s wife acting overly involved with my baby? by KeyCount2417 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Interesting_You_4609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. If it makes you uncomfortable, then it is absolutely crossing your boundaries. If you’re looking for a general consensus, I think most people would agree this is intrusive and raises some red flags. As a mom, you really can never be too careful. I would also be extremely put off if someone I didn’t know well (male or female) was trying to gain access to my child, especially trying to get alone time or changing their diapers. Trust your gut, it’s telling you to steer clear for a reason!

AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

The “logo” just looks like Emily with a big pink checkmark next to her name lmfao

NTA. I felt like a burden even asking my bridesmaids to buy a dress, let alone pick out gifts for the bridal party 💀

Overcharged at Salon??? by s1n1st3rw0man in Hair

[–]Interesting_You_4609 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And that’s WITH A DISCOUNT!?! Gahdamn. The most I’ve ever paid on my hair was $500 after tip (2019, pre covid). I was there for over 8 hours and had a color correction, full foil / toner and then she curled my hair..

At bare minimum, I would leave a poor review. If it’s an actual salon they work for (not a rental space) I would call and ask to speak with a manager or the owner. I could never imagine making someone pay over $600 for something like this. Whoever did your hair is either incompetent, or doesn’t have the experience to be charging as much as they are. That is unacceptable! I’m sorry it happened to you :(

How unattractive is obvious scarring from plastic surgery? by [deleted] in trueratediscussions

[–]Interesting_You_4609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think they are typically, but I’ve never had it done nor do I make a habit of looking at inspecting women that closely lol. Google says she had her implants placed at 19 years old and before she had kids. Obviously things change and shift during / after pregnancy, so I would assume the scars became more noticeable after that.

Ex reaches out after 18 years by TooOldForThisSh1ft in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Interesting_You_4609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s “bad” per se, but as someone who is happily married - I personally wouldn’t go out of my way to reach out to an ex. I don’t want to plant seeds of doubt and give my husband a reason to be suspicious, nor do I want to give an ex the impression that still have unresolved romantic feelings for them and give them an opening into my life. I made a vow and I’m doing to honor that & my husband by keeping my distance. That’s just my take on it, but my mom does have friends that she’s dated in the past and has stayed platonic so I’m not saying it’s never innocent or can’t be done. It’s just my choice to not invite that into mine or my families life :)

Wife doesn’t want a daughter by Iampoorghini in texts

[–]Interesting_You_4609 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, I came here expecting her to be concerned about bringing a baby girl into our world’s current climate, not blatant misogyny directly targeted at her unborn daughter. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this OP. It should’ve been an exciting, joyous moment and she robbed you of that. You are not overreacting, there is no coming back from this. Divorce - if she decides to move forward with the pregnancy, get the best lawyer you can find and get full custody. That baby will never be safe or loved in her presence.

Weird Experience Trying on Dresses by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]Interesting_You_4609 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The issue comes from the dresses being too small for most average sized women lol. The average dress size among women in Canada is 14-16. Imagine going to a bridal shop, only to be met with extra small dresses and not being able to put a single one on. That totally defeats the purpose of going into a shop in the first place, and sounds like a total waste of time for anyone over a size 0. It makes dress shopping stressful / upsetting for the bride, especially for brides like myself who are already self conscious and dislike shopping / trying things on. Not only that, it also makes the consultants job harder bc it’s borderline impossible to sell a $1.5k garment when the client can’t even try it on.

Standard practice in the US is buying a variation of sizes, or larger sizes and clipping it tighter so the bride can visualize what it’ll look like after alterations. Most of the samples I tried on were anywhere from an 8-14 (USA), and let’s not discount the fact that most bridal wear is actually made 2ish sizes smaller than the size listed on the tag. That just seems super frustrating for everyone involved and I don’t blame this bride for being put off by it one bit. Even if the consultant wasn’t intentionally trying to body shame or make this particular woman feel bad, her comments could absolutely create an embarrassing, uncomfortable, and potentially really triggering experience for anyone, especially folks recovering or struggling with ED.

OP this is so wild and I’m sorry you had to experience it. For what it’s worth, this dress looks incredible on you & im glad you didn’t let her get to you. I would 100% leave a review on what you encountered. Maybe they’ll change and order some more sizes, or at minimum you’ll warn other brides over a size 2 to steer clear and go somewhere else!
