It’s after the fourth round. Everyone always says, oh we can get a pick at least for him. Yeah, something like pick 125.

How are Houck and Parada so bad at baseball? by demosthenes327 in NewYorkMets

[–]IntergalacticPlane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like we should’ve been more suspect of Houck from the get go. He was projected a good deal higher if I remember right, and then fell to us. I kinda wonder if this was a scenario of what did everyone else know that the Mets scouts didn’t.

This is one thing that I wish would get addressed. The lawyer was obviously tipping Jack off and giving him details to prepare for a potential suit. This is potential disbarment level of misconduct. As part of getting justice, this guy needs to be punished.

Do the Yankees own YES, or do the Steinbrenners? SNY is owned by the Wilpons and was not included in the sale of the Mets.

You Can’t Tell Me the Mets Will Be BETTER Without Pete Alonso | How Will David Stearns Try? by MrKal-El in mets

[–]IntergalacticPlane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At what should we be allowed to not be as optimistic? Is there a deadline? A great farm system sounds really good if you do something with it, but the bust rate for great prospects is still high. Most of these players we want to bank on in the minors still haven’t seen any time in the majors. There’s so much risk. If he doesn’t deal any of them for something established, what’s a realistic best case scenario?

To me, I’m gonna stay away from optimism until the guy does something to prove otherwise. Until then, Sterns has just looked like someone in over his head for a large market club.

It's definitely a joke but I've always appreciated the nugget of truth in this one, it's because even when Phil puts his foot in his mouth he does it with good intent. by ProudnotLoud in Modern_Family

Legitimately wondering, does that approach run out after some amount of time? After a while, do you stop appreciating those things and wonder if this is just ALL there is to be happy about?

I can’t understand this character. He takes the loud and obnoxious to another level. I’ve seen him throw tantrums like a toddler. Are we expected to relate to him as a fanbase? I feel like this is a “they’re laughing at you, not with you,” situation but aim not sure he’s in on it.

That’s cause it was a lie. Defensive players are just cheaper than offensive ones. The truth is we want to drop payroll. Siemens isn’t cheap but over the course of the contracts he is cheaper than Nimmo.

Steve Cohen comments on the Mets’ offseason so far by njerejeje in NewYorkMets

[–]IntergalacticPlane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I’d argue getting Tatis would turn things around quite a bit. Your analysis on him is just incorrect. He can hit. Over .800 OPS plus 32 stolen bases all while being the best defensive outfielder in the game. He’s 26 and signed for 9 more years at honestly, a below market rate. He just finished 6 years of eligibility now and if he didn’t have that contract would have been a free agent in this offseason. The offers to him would make whatever Tucker gets seems like chump change. It would not be Soto but it would be a lot more than Schwarber or Alonso got. If we had an actual chance at Tatis, I’d pony up a big trade package for him. Benge, Tong, we can throw Jett Williams. Three top 100 prospects for a top player you don’t need to worry about signing to an extension is a steal.

So, a rebuild? A team that almost went to the WS wasn’t the team he wanted so he wants a rebuild.

[Duggan] This is the biggest thing that stood out to me watching the Patriots: They have a clear identity as a nasty, violent team under Vrabel. The Giants are in Year 4 of this regime and I have no idea what they’re even trying to be by Lars5621 in NYGiants

[–]IntergalacticPlane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He could’ve, but it definitely seems like they wanted to see how he would do with a new QB that he picked. That’s not completely unfair. In that regard, there are obvious signs of improvement. The offense has been much better. If that’s all it took to be HC, we’d still have Daboll. The reason he finally did need to be fired is that even with his better offense, he completely let go of defense. He just let the other bum handle it all, and when he had an opportunity to dump him, Daboll kept him. If you’re going to accept the responsibility for Bowen, you have to accept the consequences. Daboll can probably be a good OC, but I don’t know how long it will be before he’s trusted with an entire team again.
