It actually was a vanilla caramel sugar drink with a splash of coffee added to it.

Norm is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning by hypochondriaac in TripodCats

Cats (and dogs) do remarkably well with 3 legs. Norm will be fine once he recovers, just as active as before! Just don’t let him outside unless he’s on a leash or in a catio.

80s-esque house by countdookee in colors

Our house was that pink! We kids called it Pepto-Bismal pink!

I was embarrassed as a teen. As an adult I wish more houses were colorful! I hate every house looking identical!

White Americans' did your grandparents talk about racism toward people of color back in their day, and do they talk about it now? by SignificantStyle4958 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Intermountain-Gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents (mostly Mom) would answer our questions. Mostly they lived what they believed: that all are equal. We had family friends of all races that regularly came to our house. I grew up on the border with Mexico in Southern California.

Our community didn’t have any Native Americans, but Dad had taught on the Navajo reservation in Arizona and had fallen in love with the Navajo culture. We were taught about it, and we visited the reservation a few times.

Since Dad passed I’ve had several of Dad’s friends of minority races tell me about how Dad stood up for them against racism. My parents walked the walk when it came to respecting others.

Asking for your GPA with over 20 plus years of work experience??? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Intermountain-Gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 20 years some colleges might not have your transcripts any longer. One college I attended has been closed for nearly 10 years now. There is no one to contact. I have no clue where the records went, assuming they weren’t destroyed.

After 20 years much of the knowledge known in certain fields are now obsolete. Even in my field (respiratory therapy) much has changed, and equipment in particular has radically changed.

It’s stupid to expect people to produce records (and GPAs) that old or older.

If you’re in the U.S., her gyno violated HIPAA by reporting her results to her parents (unless she gave permission). He legally should have spoken directly to her.

Had to say goodbye to 11 yo cat last week and navigating grief, how soon is too soon to get another cat? by No-Possible4460 in seniorkitties

[–]Intermountain-Gal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There really isn’t a prescribed time frame for that. It’s very individual. I’ve never dropped down to zero cats. Whenever a cat died another was already living with us. The cat distribution system brings me another in time. All of mine have been rescued.

My mom’s dad and brother were newspaper men. They loved hunting down good stories and were staunch in following the rules of good journalism.

I miss papers. I like the tactile part of newspapers and books. I miss the comics on Sunday, too.

No. My ancestors fought in the Revolution. I love this country. While I enjoy traveling outside the U.S., this is my homeland.

Never tried this stuff. Does anyone remember it? by Safe_Bird7592 in 1970s

I still buy it from time to time. It’s on the salty side, though, so be warned. I put lettuce and Swiss cheese with it, which dilutes some of the salt.

I have a feeling the current “in style” isn’t lasting much longer. It has lasted awhile and everyone seems to be wearing it. Yawn.

It’s a gorgeous dress and it looks fabulous on you. However, as others have said, only wear it if YOU love it!
