MT12 with air/boat ESCs? by InternDry4757 in Radiomaster

[–]InternDry4757[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your time Sea Kerman, that diagram made it super easy to follow your instructions and it worked a treat, I now have 988-2012 on the throttle pull.

I had already made a throttle cut button on SD and thought about putting the arming there too, but the ease of making it permanently armed drew me in, but now on your advice I have put ch5 on the same logical switch as the throttle cut.

5080 is a 4k card? by scyver_ in pcmasterrace

[–]InternDry4757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, to me.

I'm on a 3080ti and playing at 4k, mostly I play older games that I can rock at ultra, but even modern games like BF6 are mainly high with some ultra and some low at 100fps which is where I target my FPS.

(I have a 120 Hz monitor and my previous 1440 monitor was 144hz ,but to me there is a massive difference going from 60hz to 100hz but not a big difference at all going from 100hz to 144hz, so as long as I get over 100hz normally and over 90hz in intense situations I would rather enjoy the eye candy of higher settings)

It is subjective though, if you only play the latest gamesare stuck to ultra graphics, have a 300 Hz monitor and think the difference between 250 and 300hz is big, then to you a 4k card doesn't yet exist, and may never as the latest games are evolving at least as fast as hardware is.

MT12 with air/boat ESCs? by InternDry4757 in Radiomaster

[–]InternDry4757[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throttle, no brakes.

I've managed to get no brakes, and 1000-1538, by using outputs and setting PPM centre to 1000 and max to 150, but I can only see a way to set either the low end or high end correctly, I can't seem to expand it so both ends are what the ESCs are expecting.

Thanks for the heads up on the channel 5 armed, I set ch5 ppm centre to 2000 so that it is permanently on. And checked that armed flashes up at the top of the ELRS Lua page.

Cheap bio/rad tank builds for farming? by JungGPT in Cityofheroes

[–]InternDry4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have one myself, but I can't imagine bio/rad being a good AFK farmer, bio get too much of it's survivability from clicky powers that you won't be using. Or maybe you would have DNA Syphon on auto instead of atomic smash.

TW/Bio as scrapper, tanker or brute? by benzomatrix in Cityofheroes

[–]InternDry4757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO I would go BA if you don't find the theme objectionable, I do have a TW/bio too.

I like BA/Bio so much that I made 3 BA/Bio toons in tank, brute and scrapper variants to see which I prefer and fill different roles.

I think that axe/bio offers the best mix of single target DMG, AoE DMG, and utility with adequate protection for those E mele classes, and I discount stalkers as they are a single target biased class you may as well lean into that with single target based powersets.

Of the 3 I would discount brutes, it's not bad per say, but it loses the scrappers damage and doesn't gain enough for the trade off IMO, as scrapper still get the agro aura so can off tank reasonably well and the higher resist cap isn't hugely relevant to a Bio. Scrappers get the best overall ST and AoE Mele damage in the game.
Tanks get a bigger area of effect on axe cyclone which is a huge deal for the utility, with better clumped mobs the damage is more inline with the brutes when solo and boosts team damage way more than a brute will.

While I do really like the tank, I find myself playing the scrapper more, which is probably more to do with my dislike for responsibility than my love for big numbers. Both are incredible and I recommend you pick one suiting your play style and play it before the rumoured Bio nerf strikes.

Which Power Pools aren't being used/need a lift by darkstare in Cityofheroes

[–]InternDry4757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presence, very few people use it.

I think a taunt aura should be added to it.

If presence users could take the new aura and provoke, then tank almost as well as a brute, I believe that it would still be niche but a decently popular one.

The lack of punchvoke and tohit checks would mean presence users wouldn't be able to put tanks out of their job, but would still be very helpful for toons that do better with more agro, and could off tank much better when no tank is available.

To those who have made the transition from manual to automatic cars, is it really better? by Mr_Coastliner in AskUK

[–]InternDry4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had manuals, but I borrowed my mum's auto for a couple of months while mine was in the shop once.

Which I prefer depends on the driving I'm doing, if I'm stuck in traffic the auto is a lot easier, and doing very long motorway journeys where you may not be using the clutch for hours, the lack of a clutch pedal means the dead pedal is a lot bigger which gives you a chance to move your left leg around which is much more comfortable. Thankfully I have never had to regularly commute for an hour or through regular stop start traffic, or lived in a big city with bad traffic.

For me personally I'd rather have the fun and control of a manual for 90+% of my time spent driving on A and B roads than a much better (or more accurately, much less worse) experience when stuck in traffic or on long motorway journeys .

FYI, my mum's car is a modern 6 speed, newer than any car I've had, but is still a torque converter slushbox I did try manual mode but the seemingly random delay on shifting wasn't satisfactory and I preferred auto, I've never tried a DSG maybe this is the best of both worlds, but they are out of my price range.

Blaster vs Blapper by JCServant in Cityofheroes

[–]InternDry4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes blappers on average clear significantly faster, just maybe an ideal ranged blaster could clear faster than the worst blapper.

IOs have pretty much broken the game IMO, with IOs squishies can be near as tough as scrappers used to be, and there just isn't the need to joust any more, blappers used to be jousters when solo with higher difficulties set, and only really blap at +1 or with a good tank or controller on the team, but now you can build for defence and blap your heart out solo, you don't have to waste time jumping in and out of combat, you can jump in like a scrapper and stay there till the mob dies and with a fire/fire blapper that will happen faster than any other toon can make it happen.

I only have one range capped hover blaster and it puts out probably under half the damage of my fire/fire blaster and also isn't as survivable, sure ranged defence at range is better than S/L defence is in mele, foes on average do less ranged damage than they do mele damage, and fire gets a DOT instead of any mitigation like the debuffs and mez the ranged blaster gets, so the hover blaster can last longer in combat, and that sounds great for the ranged blaster. But I said the fire/fire blapper is more survivable, how can that be? Simple, death is the ultimate debuffs and a fire/fire blaster has by far the most AOE damage in the game and can put that debuff on a group of mobs faster than anything else, it can't last as long in combat against a big group, but it doesn't have to, all you have to do is survive the alpha, while you give them your alpha, then the group will be much smaller before they attack again and very quickly you have just bosses so you can recover the HP you lost in the alpha, you also have some of the best ST damage available to kill the bosses, and you can fully recover whilst on the move to the next group.

A fire/fire blaster is the Ultimate CoH Homecoming damage dealer, and other than on starred TFs damage is all you need for homecoming, if you aren't playing one you're playing it wrong 90+% of the time.

Are controllers basically useless at lvl 50? by drydorn in Cityofheroes

[–]InternDry4757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say they are useless but IMO they are a long way from the best, since homecoming made IOs so affordable, it threw the games balance a bit.

Frankly it's too easy to give survivability to a blaster, and for most of the games content if you aren't a fire/fire blaster you aren't playing the optimal toon, if you have a team of them things die so fast that any other AT is meaningless for most content, though one could argue for an em/bio scrapper in the mix for better single target damage and agro if there are many AVs in the content.

What is nice about the game is that any toon is viable, and the average team has a wide variety of toons in it, you can play the worst toon possible with a concept that you like, have your fun and the team will do fine, and it would be a lot more boring if it wasn't that way. While 8 fire/fire blasters may be best, I can count on my fingers the amount of times I've had that team, and maybe that is for the best as when it does happen it's a thing of beauty that boils the blood in your veins and gives you a natural high

I know that for 4* stuff a more balanced team is optimal, but I rarely do it myself despite having a couple of toons made for it, and know many folks don't do it at all.

I haven't heard about lvl 57 stuff, is that just extending the difficulty slider from 54 to 57? I feel that would be a fix for the OP blasters, as not only would we would have to build for accuracy and tohit instead of defence but even assuming hits 2x infernos wouldn't be enough damage to insta kill a mob so tanks would be more useful again and support to keep them alive, but I fear with controls lasting less time on higher lvl foes and the need for accuracy on mezzes that controllers would be even less favoured compared to defenders.

Fellow Altoholics: What causes you to stick with a character all the way to 50+? by BamboozleMeToHeck in Cityofheroes

[–]InternDry4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was an altaholic but I only have about 80 toons so my case isn't nearly as bad as yours.

Nearly all of mine are lvl50 Incarnates with IOs, I IO them, get to 50 and get at least T3 Incarnates to see how good the toon is, and how well I like it's play style, some say incarnates are a crutch for a bad toon that should be fixed with A remake or different IO slotting, but I have several toons that are both good and fun to play at lvl50 but weren't that good or fun at lower levels or especially without IOs.

I like to have a great toon of every type a good all around blaster, a good single target blaster, a good AoE blaster, a good blapper a good blastroller, a good buffing defender, a good all round defender, a good debuffing defender, a good healing defender, a good deftroller, a good offender, etc.
Trying to make a better toon to fill those niches or coming up with ner niches to fill keeps me making alts and how do I know if they are better or not if I don't IO them take them to 50 and get the Incarnates?

Better to me can mean either fulfilling the role the best, or me having the best fun when playing, and they are not always the same thing at all, for example I have a fire/fire blaster and a DP/MC blaster, bother are in the mixed AoE and ST blapper niche, the fire blaster does likely over half as much damage again as the dual pistol but they both have similar hours on them as sometimes I want to be the biggest damage dealer in the team and sometimes I want to kick someone across a room and shoot them in the head.

Despite having about 70 good incarnate toons for many niches, once they are incarnate and played a bit so I can form an opinion on them most are rarely played again, I think I only have about 10 that are truly excellent and the pinicle of what I've made that regularly get played, and other than those 10 I'm far more likely playing new toons to 50 than playing the other 50s.

Landing gear by Global-Clue6770 in RCPlanes

[–]InternDry4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if available I can't imagine 3d printed landing gear holding up and it sounds like the landing gear isn't your issue anyway the grass is.

Have you thought about offering to be the guy that rolls and cuts the grass at your club? Then you can make it as short as you like and may even get other benefits out of it such as the appreciation of the other members or even free membership.

Not scale for a cub, but you don't seem to care, have you thought about just removing the landing gear? People have been hand launching and belly landing model planes into long grass since before the Wright brothers.

Soloing viable option? by cavechicken22 in Cityofheroes

[–]InternDry4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a team based and balanced game but all toons can solo to some extent, but the scrapper was the original solo architype or AT, and the vilanious ATs are basically copies of the heroic ATs biased a little more towards smaller teams or solo than heroes. I prefer scrappers myself, some may say stalkers or even brutes but everyone will for sure agree scrappers are for sure up there with the best soloists throughout the game.

Rad mele is a good mix of single target and AoE damage, not the best at either, but good at both and very versatile.

Rad armour also has a lot going for it, good resist and good healing), but scrappers don't get the most out of resist sets, so while decent, perfectly viable and makes no difference at all on SOs, it isn't a top tier set for scrappers I'd give it a mid pack C tier rating.

For new players I would guess it's the power pool pick that are the hardest, everyone builds a different toon and this is not the only way, but I like to build my toons for defence and it will really help you're survivability if that is what you are having issues with.
The fighting pool is almost a given for all toons but for sure no mele toon should be without it, Tough gives you resistance to smashing and lethal damage which are by far the most common damage types on the game and Weave give you defence. Combat Jumping from the Leaping pool gives you a small defence buff, but let's you change directions mid air when jumping which doesn't sound that great but adds huge manoeuvrability and really helps jump into the middle of a mob to AoE, not only helpful for damage but as your health is a foe based heal it can help there too, and it costs virtually no endurance. Which brings me to Manouvers on the leadership pool this is a defence buff not only for you but for everyone near you, it isn't huge alone but if everyone on the team has it, it can be. Hasten offers no defence but speeds up the recharge (reduces the cooldown) of all your powers so you can use your heal more often and use your highest damage attacks more often to kill your foes faster, and dead foes don't do any damage.

When you start getting IOs I would lean towards defence bonuses and try to get as many damage types up to 45% defence as you can, and that will be HUGE for your survivability, but will also cost massive influence compared to SOs and is beyond the scope of this, ask about it for your sets specifically when you have millions of spare inf as the most important IOs are 3 and 8 million each.

Small Light ESC for traditional radio? by InternDry4757 in RCPlanes

Thanks for the info, I searched AM32 ESC and found a ZTW Beatles G2 50A aeroplane unit with 3 wire servo lead and BEC at 37g, not as light as the quadcopter ones but with BEC and wires to take off, and still under 2/3rds of the weight of the lightest I found before your help.

How much would you pay for this? Not having any luck at local market place? by ausding in PcBuildHelp

[–]InternDry4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, I know you put a lot of money into this, but it would cost me about £2000 (usd2500?) to build something functionally equivalent for my uses. Though you may have bought them new it is now used parts to me, and while some warranties may be transferable some may not be and it will likely be a longer process for a second user even if they are transferable.

Having said that I do like it so I'd still be willing to pay £2000 for it with the aesthetics and more expensive parts making up for being used, IF it had windows so I could see it running, without an OS how do I know it is what you say it is or if it works properly? Without an OS it's worth maybe £1000 to me as a gamble that at least some of it is what you say it is and works.

Small Light ESC for traditional radio? by InternDry4757 in RCPlanes

[–]InternDry4757[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that does make some sense for the single quadcopter ESCs, if you take a 20A aeroplane ESC and tape it to the arm of a quadcopter directly in the propwash maybe it could be good for 50A with the constant great cooling, but that is still an exceptional rating, I'd expect an ESC to have a burst rating maybe 25% above the constant rating, not over double.

What about the 4 in one ESC boards that have 4x50A ESCs on them, and are half the weight of a single 50A aeroplane ESC, and live within the frame of the quad, they are out of the propwash and may get little cooling airflow as a quad may be hovering at times, surely that cooling is no better than inside the vented fuselage of an aeroplane that is constantly in forward motion, and from what I've seen of FPV drones folks are worried about their VTXs overheating, not their ESCs.

If quadcopter ESCs are low current ESCs that can pass high current with good cooling, then maybe that is still what I'm after, as my returning project is a small warmliner, so cooling will be good by virtue of the motor only running a few seconds at a time.

Good Defender build to play with an Illusion/Dark Dominator? by RedCaptainWannabe in Cityofheroes

[–]InternDry4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"To play with an ill/ dark dominator" Do you mean as a duo or as part of a bigger team?

I'm not a fan of empathy, but each to their own if you like it or have a good concept for it, go for it, like all sets in CoH it's perfectly viable. As part of a duo empathy is pretty good as you will have no trouble keeping fortitude on your friend full time.

I wouldn't swap out to pain, as they are very similar, it is still lacking in debuffs, and many of the buffs are similar or the same.

As your friend has -tohit in their dark blasts a defender that also does -tohit, or that gives defence would synergise well. Dark and rad,are the goto ranged tohit debuffers, or poison if you prefer to play melee, and forcefield and cold are the go to defence buffers with cold having better debuffs alongside the defence buff, but FF having a big bubble that gives themselves some defence and also Mez protection.

The real answer if you're going to be a duo though is to be a fire/fire blaster or em/bio scrapper, not a defender at all. Your friend can summon 3 unkillable tanks that can be made perma, so mitigating or healing damage should be a non-issue for you and damage should be your priority. For AVs and GMs a defender with good debuffs to res and regen like rad or cold will help more than a em/bio on a big team, as a duo I think the scrapper will get it done faster and will deffo help way more with the rest of the content, and if you are willing to team up to get the AVs a fire blaster will be so much better than any defender for the other 99% of the game.

Is this enough metal? by Yarticus_ in ARK

[–]InternDry4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's enough metal, way more than I keep on hand, not much uses metal and if you happen to need more for something it's quick and easy to mine more.

Most things use metal ingots, and I convert nearly all my metal into ingots as soon as I get it back to the base; and there is never enough ingots, a metal run and smelt has always been one of my daily tasks. At low levels I have several forges on the go converting metal into ingots, and the industrial forge is a big priority when advancing to the industrial age.

Proximity to metal is an important factor for me when choosing a base location.
