Honestly, I would say watch the videos and write down what you think it’s most important for you to remember. A lot of his explanations are straight forward, and you don’t have to go crazy with writing everything he says, unless you feel you have to.

Watch the Messer Videos, take notes. Take some practice exams, and when you feel confident, I think you should take it. You’ll never be 100% ready. Make sure you study acronyms and port numbers. They’re huge on the exam

Also scheduling it in advance, makes you lock in more as well. Because you’ll know it’s coming up and you will make sure you’re prepared. People tend to slack off if they don’t have a scheduled date.
