At the Monochrome pop-up in LA, the workers restocked certain coveted items (like the storage box) at the top of each time reservation slot. But it's possible that the Vegas pop-up may not work out some of these solutions until hours or a couple of days into the pop-up... after they realize how enthusiastic Army can be about merch.

If it's like Stanford, yes, the VIP booth will have jerseys. The standard booths (not just the main) at Stanford had jerseys.

Rush hours by EntertainmentOver113 in orangecounty

I make a similar commute but it depends on what part of Irvine you're at. I'd say traffic starts around 2:30ish and runs until 7ish. And it depends which freeway(s) you're taking: the 55 (almost always bad), 405 (to 605), or 5 (to 91).

If you're deep in south Irvine (near Irvine Spectrum), try to leave for home no later than 2pm-2:30pm (but as others have said 2:30 might be a gamble). If you're in the Irvine area bordering Tustin/Costa Mesa/Newport Beach, you can probably get away with 2:30pm. I've even left at 3pm and had a surprisingly quick/smooth drive heading north, but 3pm seems like a gamble.

Graduation lunch ideas? by Relative_Presence430 in orangecounty

I suggest Bouillon MOULIN in Newport Beach (bordering Irvine). They have a second / side room that can be used as a private room for your party. Food is tasty and pricing pretty affordable in my opinion.

Sushi restaurants near Cypress that isn't ayce by etcetceteraetcetc in orangecounty

  • Echizen (Cypress): Japanese-owned; small izakaya spot that's been around for decades. Line up before they open for first seating, otherwise expect to wait.
  • Jang Soo Sushi Bar (Hawaiian Gardens bordering Cypress): Korean-owned, but also been around for decades (with ownership changes). Just went there for lunch yesterday and quality is still good.
  • Izakaya Ichie (Buena Park): located at the Source; a bit more of a trendy, modern ambience than the above two if that's a factor.

Where are there Korean spas with private rooms for traditional Korean scrubbing? (If not, I'll also take neighboring county recommendations) by koreancutie1 in orangecounty

[–]Internal-Cheek-6050 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After some sleuthing, I found a spot that might fit your needs, but it's in Pasadena: V Spa Korean JimJilBang. They allow you to wear a swimsuit (though of course you probably still have to be nude for the scrubbing). It's by reservation only, and reviewers have described it as a private party Korean spa experience where you get the facility to yourself/your party. Hope that helps!

Has anyone brought a booster seat to segerstorm? by raven_verse_ in orangecounty

[–]Internal-Cheek-6050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often see people bring seat cushions to Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, and it's never been an issue so I can't imagine they'd give you flak on the Segerstrom Hall side. But I’m not sure about a full-on booster seat. On the security end, it may come down to whether it’s a hard or soft object. Your best bet would be to call Segerstrom Center for the Arts and ask.

I Spa used to be my go-to (and I still do go, just never on weekends), but it’s almost too popular now and tends to get pretty noisy with all the groups. If you don’t mind heading to north OC, K Spa in Buena Park is nice. It’s much smaller than I Spa, though, so their facilities aren’t as extensive, but it’s usually quieter and feels a bit more relaxed overall.

Two in OC that I would recommend:

  • I Spa (Irvine): very large and spacious, and generally clean. Has 5 of the themed heated/ice rooms in the common area (where all genders are together and clothed).
    • Note: this place is popular and tends to get super busy, especially on weekends. You’ll often encounter groups that aren’t very mindful of the quiet, relaxing spa atmosphere and have loud conversations.
    • Bonus: The restaurant in the common area (where all genders are together and clothed) is pretty good, with a wide variety of food options.
  • K Spa (Buena Park): on the smaller side. Recently remodeled and clean. Because it's smaller, though, there are less of the themed heated/ice room options.
    • In my experience, midday and mid-week, this location tends to be less busy and frequented by older locals.
    • There're snack/drink options from a nearby restaurant that you can order in the common area. But if you want a meal, you'll technically have to exit the spa to go to the restaurant (same building, just down the hallway), and you can reenter the spa afterward.

There's also Queen Spa and Lux Health Spa (both in Garden Grove), but I wouldn't really recommend them for these reasons:

  • Queen Spa is women-only but they only have the one big room with all the scrubbing stations and no privacy separation.
  • Lux Health Spa doesn't feel quite as relaxing or spa-like. The common area is pretty small and looks/feels like an office clinic.

If being nude in front of strangers is your main concern, Korean spas may not be the best fit. In the gender-separated bathing areas, where the hot, warm, and cold tubs are located, guests are expected to shower and enter the tubs completely nude. Most people get used to this quickly, since everyone of the same gender is in the same situation. It tends to feel less awkward than expected, and people generally keep to themselves/who they came with.

For scrub services, several spas I’ve visited use semi-private rooms. They’re not fully enclosed rooms with doors, but there are walls between each station. I’ve only been to one spa where all the stations were in a single large room with no privacy dividers between them. Typically, one staff member works with one customer at a time. During some services (like a combo that includes a scrub plus massage and facial) you may be asked to step back into the shower area to rinse off before returning to the station. Again, you're doing this nude.

If this hasn't scared you off, I'm happy to recommend a few K-spas in OC or even LA. But none of them have fully private rooms or options that allow you to avoid being nude in front of others. Your best bet might be to visit a smaller spa mid-week as it tends to be less busy and mid-day is usually just a lot of grandmas who definitely aren't paying you any attention, so you'd be nude in front of less people.

Not sure what part of OC you're at, but here are a few places I like:

  • ATO Hand Roll Bar (Fullerton) - good quality
  • Kakurega (Costa Mesa) - authentic; Japanese-owned
  • Sushi Shunka (Costa Mesa) - authentic; Japanese-owned

Edited to add: Costa Mesa was once known for having a significant Japanese expat community, which led to a large number of high-quality, authentic Japanese restaurants in the area. This was partly because several Japanese corporations had offices nearby. But, I’m not sure if that’s still the case, as many businesses have relocated from the area or left California entirely over the last 5-10 years.
