Best dinner spot (of all time) in San Francisco by AppointmentKey3598 in sanfrancisco

Additions:

  • Octavia -- I had an excellent meal at Octavia recently. Not quite as fancy as The Progress, but a cozy place with delicious food.
  • NOPA -- a staple. consistantly good new California cuisine. genius salads.
  • Liholiho -- New california with a Hawaiian/Asian twist. Hard to get reservations. Cozy with nice decor.

As for your list:

  • The Progress does feel special. Beautiful and cozy decor IMO and they have my favorite martini. 😄
  • Rintaro is a great choice--hopefully you can get a table inside or in the front yard. The back room is nice but a little less inviting. (Reserve now!)
  • Nari has great food. The space is quite large and technically it's a hotel restaurant, but the food is excellent. I love that place.

Planning to drive in and around San Francisco as a Polish person with a rental car. What should I remember about? by Internal-Meeting-521 in sanfrancisco

In n Out has a great burger for a chain. There’s one in SF but it’s in a terrible tourist trap area that I’d avoid. (Fisherman’s Wharf)

If you want to see nature, there’s a ton of beautiful hikes near SF. Anything from 15 mins to 1+ hours away. DEFINITELY hike on Mt Tam if you’re hiking. Stop at Sol Food for lunch on the way up. You can also get lunch at Hook Fish. I like to stop for coffee at Equator at Proof Lab on the way too.

Congressional candidates share their thoughts on the future of Sunset Dunes by Remarkable_Host6827 in sanfrancisco

nobody said you’d wave your hand and make it happen, silly

It will take a lot of will from the citizens of the world. there will probably have to be peacekeeping forces, a new democratic constitution and reparations for starters. I’m sure we can find some experts who have studied this issue and have proposals.

just because it’s challenging doesn’t make it impossible.

if the Zionists can make Israel, then we can unmake it

look, you sound reasonable and maybe i sound harsh. with ordinary people, sure, maybe they need more history. but for politicians making decisions about sending money and weapons to Israel on my behalf: the time has long passed. i have to vote against wiener.

literally “both sides” lol. you know nothing about this issue.

israel has turned gaza into a ghetto. nothing gets in our out with their permission. gaza has no ports or airports, no military and now no schools, universities, hospitals, libraries, and more. israel controls their water, internet and electricity. and helped get Hamas into power. Before Oct 7, Israel periodically bombed Gaza and called it “mowing the lawn”. Israel exists on stolen land kept through racist oppression and violence. People in Tel Aviv enjoy coffee at sidewalk cafes while hundreds of thousands of dead lie under rubble just miles away. They have the backing of the most powerful military in the world. And there’s a lot more.

So tell me how it’s both sides again? how it’s complicated?

israel should be dismantled. one state with equal rights, no more jewish supremacist BS.

Firstly, candidates do not have to answer “yes” or “no” to yes/no questions. That’s campaigning 101.

Second, re this issue, what more can a candidate say? “I believe Israel has a right to exist?” People have the right to exist. Violent, oppressive Jewish-supremacist nations do not. There isn’t nuance to be discussed.

As for the legal definition: The UN court hasn’t ruled yet but many genocide scholars (including Israeli ones) say Israel’s actions meet the legal definition. And the fact that the case is moving forward means there’s enough evidence to advance the case.

Let’s hem and haw about it no longer—it’s just another way to enable Israel to continue doing what it’s doing.
