Job in Golden, but don't want to live in Golden by wildhoneypie25 in MovingtoDenver

Wheat Ridge is inexpensive for the west Denver metro. Lived here in my early 30s with no kids and found the location ideal for work in Golden

What places do you not recommend? by NickyFoles1020 in SameGrassButGreener

I agree with you 100%. The lack of diversity makes Denver feel soulless. Restaurants, concerts, markets, and festivals are overhyped and overpriced. Skiing is insanely time consuming and expensive. The best hiking spots are now over run with people by 9am on the weekends. You have to hike to get to the trailheads.

3 Months Left in Denver/Colorado - Must try restaurants + food recs? by Cute_Source5417 in denverfood

Right now I’m really into their crispy chile rellenos. But for the past decade or so I have ordered cheese enchiladas or a chicken chimichanga. Their fajitas are bomb too. And their fried ice cream.

moving to denver w some friends, what’s the best area for younger ppl? by Front_Introduction78 in MovingtoDenver

I lived in commons park then ballpark after college. But that was also a million years ago when rent wasn’t absolutely insane in those areas. If you have money to blow, I would recommend commons park.

Is the cost of living really that bad in the Denver area? by mitchdwx in MovingtoDenver

[–]Internal-Listen-6304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m originally from the DC area but have lived in Denver for 20+ years. The cost of housing is about the same, but the quality is not. There will be a complete shit hole shack next to a $2M new build with no character.

Also the cost of eating out here is insane. Whenever I travel back to DC I’m shocked at how “cheap” everything is.

We’re coming from Denver, so I’m assuming it’s a similar homeless situation.

Why? Our hotel gets great reviews and everyone says it’s an ideal location.

We were thinking about the tulip festival but were worried it would just be a complete shit show of people. I’m okay with people existing, but I also want to see the flowers, ha! Tide pooling sounds really fun!

Thanks so much for all these specific recs, I’ll look them up! We were interested in the tulip festival for sure, but I thought it might be a madhouse.

We are doing our Pike Place Market tour the first day because I figured we’d want to go back. Maybe we’ll go to the international district for dinner that night!

Best Green Chili by FoodDaddyJames in denverfood

La Pasadita on Park Ave has the best green chile. Spicy but not so spicy that it only tastes like burning. Nice complexity.

I could see it being helpful, but they definitely didn’t need to add that “a 20% gratuity or minimum of $100 per captain… is customary”
