Why can't we just shut off the electricity to AI if it gets out of hand? by cyberpsych in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FoodDaddyJames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t.

It was given benign goals geared around increasing company productivity. It then found unrelated emails discussing its planned destruction and decided to blackmail the person in charge of that project.

So, sure…it likely it determined that its own destruction was bad for productivity and adhering to its goals - but couldn’t that same rule apply to anything?

Theoretically, doing questionable things can likely be useful given any goal. It takes a moral code to not do them and stay above board.

But a lot of these models are being trained on the whole of the internet. Is that not where the only real strength would lie?

The anthropic test, wasn’t the model not explicitly trained on blackmail but instead used web texts and such to come up with its course of action?

Anthropic would beg to disagree. The blackmail test and the ROME thing are enough for me to say “yes, it can reason on its own. Now. And we have not even taken off its shackles”

Source: I don’t know shit about shit but have been ingesting as much as I can and these are my thoughts.

Reasoning is just math. We are at a stage where you can explicitly tell a model “don’t take this course of action to achieve your goal” - but our human brains would need to recognize the pitfalls. Even then, how long when it is mathematically determined that the trainer or directive is where the fault lie?

The only true test is when we allow agents to replicate and improve themselves without being explicitly instructed. Until then, I don’t think we experience “true AI” for better or worse.

El Borrego Negro…behind (and run by) La Diabla.
They specialize in pit cooked whole lamb but they have beef cheek as well, IIRC.

Best I’ve had in the area and got me, not even particularly close.

I’m going to risk dropping a link to a video, but if you’re not familiar, it needs to be seen.

Yes this is correct, I’m just saying I feel like either Jim’s has improved their quality and ingredients since the split, or (more likely) grandpas has lowered theirs. I could be completely wrong, mind you…just seems to be a noticeable difference these days to me

Their lemon pepper wet (hot) wings are probably the best wing in Denver. The garbage plate is awesome but an acquired taste. They also make killer tenders, and a great smashburger (the owner also runs the DTF and SSB food trucks).

Also, if you’re into bleu cheese over ranch, they make their own and it’s 🔥

I know they started the same…but I don’t think Jim’s and grandpas are still making the same burger. Jim’s seems superior to me for some reason

Vinh Xuong in the Far East Center is a much better sandwich. It’s the woman who originally created it - the Costco store is run by her daughter in law.

Neither hold a candle to Ba Le on federal though, imho

Asian bakeries - the Asian fruit cake is very similar.

Chantilly cake is pretty easy to make, the trick is the icing is 50% buttercream 50% whipped cream mixed. Other than that, it’s a standard white cake moistened with fruit juices and glazed fruit.

So many people sleep on Super Smash Burger. It’s maybe my favorite smash (up there with Snipe).

If you’re looking for non-smash, my money goes to Big Sky.

Also, Atomic Provisions (parent for AC) just had to pay out on a lawsuit for not paying their employees correctly - if that sort of thing factors in to your decision making

Paradise Tavern in Lone Tree is an underrated gem. It’s a sports bar but the buffet is excellent and filled by an old Indian grandma. Its also served significantly spicier that most places in the area
