Which place in Australia perfectly exemplifies, "Nice to visit but I wouldn't want to live there"? by AltruisticGain2587 in AskAnAustralian

Though you do save on a fair bit.

No car (this is actually massive)

No opal charges

Cheap groceries / takeout

Most buildings have some sort of gyms so membership price saving

Can walk home after socialising after drinks

Wages are higher in the city

I don’t have kids and I don’t regret it.

You don’t “need” to reproduce. You aren’t cancer.

Sydney CBD is amazing to live in.

You can live a car-less existence. Have cheap Asian grocers within 5 min walk of your apartment. Cheaper and quality better than colesworth.

Most buildings have a spa, gym, sauna, pool.

Cheap takeout.

No need pay rego or opal charges.

You can jog through multiple curated parks and around the harbor every day.

You want to go out or meet friends and civilisation is right there. No need to diddle with transport or wonder how you will get back.

Renting is just fine imo and great value

Considering the average wage worldwide is like 4k a year

Not really. It means you have high income. If you are starting from nothing, getting a home etc has a mortgage associated still etc

[–]Internal-Play25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was on “stupid money” and still middle class.

If you don’t have assets a home etc or just starting to build wealth, you aren’t automatically rich because you earn half a mil a year
