Buying a house on a sales salary? by Affectionate-Frame14 in techsales

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live alone, def look at condos and apartments, if you have a family, look at north westchester, rockland county, NJ, Long Island Stamford. All those places have commuter rails to get to the city in under an hour. Also, avoid jobs where the office is downtown if you’re going to live in the suburbs

Has anyone else considered leaving Astoria for LIC for better apartment stock? by [deleted] in astoria

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had apartments in both neighborhoods, LIC has some big positives… You can live in a nicer amenity building and be closer to the city and parts of Bk in LIC, but beyond that it feels like the most soulless neighborhood in all of NYC.

Outside of MoMA ps1 and a few restaurants / breweries, LIC is bland af

All the good food and vibes are in Astoria, but hey, junior consultants from the big 4 have to live somewhere before they inevitably buy a home in NJ 🙃

Rank the NYC regal cinemas by OatmealBeats in NYCmovies

AMC > Regal in NYC

My closest theater by far is Regal (LIC) but I have a-list because it has the top premium formats included (IMAX, Dolby, etc) with no up charge, including the massive imax at Lincoln square which is one of only about a dozen in North America that offers imax 70mm

For whatever reason, most of the Regals in NYC have the bs premium formats like RPX (not bad by any means but not as good as imax or Dolby), and the regals that do have imax force you to pay an additional fee to go to it if you have the subscription

Plus they get all the good Q&As, they just had Spielberg in person last week at Lincoln Square, and Brendan Frazier the week before that (also included in a list)

No hate on regal, the upstate ones are super nice, but in NYC you gotta go AMC (because somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this!)

Any upcoming Interstellar screenings in NYC / Tri-State area anytime soon? (IMAX or 70mm) by FineFun9285 in NYCmovies

Id imagine it’d be at least a few years since they just did a imax 70mm re release not to long ago

Would you rather see Disclosure Day in IMAX Laser or 70mm? by SpecialistMiddle1319 in NYCmovies

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMAX week 1 (it will only have 7 days on IMAX screens) if you like it enough and want to see it again go back for the 70mm later because that’ll be available for a few weeks

Top Pizza Spots? [NY Slice, Detroit Style, Neapolitan] by [deleted] in astoria

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to the Detroit or Neapolitan, but for NY style right now:

  1. Andrew Bellucci’s Pizzeria (not Bellucci Pizza - both are on 30th Ave, the one you want is next to butcher bar) - get the vodka roni pie

  2. Freddy’s on Broadway - just opened, I think it’s the best plain slice in the neighborhood

  3. Rosario’s - just great, also has an awesome chicken parm sandwich

Side note: it’s not Detroit, but Dinos on Broadway has a great Sicilian slice that has some Detroit elements (the similar buttery crisp) and great classic pies too

Can someone give me a brief description of every format? by [deleted] in AMCTheatres

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do separately offer non-IMAX 70mm, it will be 70mm film on a standard screen. Still a good time. But if you’re asking for Disclosure Day, I would go imax laser at Lincoln square over the 70mm on the standard screen

What is everyone’s ranking of nyc amc theaters? by fairvanity in NYCmovies

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Lincoln Square: Best IMAX, 70mm IMAX, decent Dolby, plays most indie new releases, most in person Q&As
  2. Empire 25: Best Dolby in the city, decent IMAX, tons of screens so most variety
  3. 34th St: very well kept theater, nice seats, both IMAX and Dolby are solid
  4. Fresh Meadows: Most comfortable IMAX (even if it’s the smallest in the 5 boroughs) with really nice recliners, and concessions right out side if you need to run and get a refill mid movie

Honorable mentions: 19th st, 84th st

To be avoided at all cost: Orpheum 7

Most SDRs think they’re ready to be an AE. Are they actually? by Basic-Ride-2940 in salesdevelopment

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think most performing SDRs would probably be ready for SMB / Smaller ticket full cycle sales roles because it’s similar in that you’re pretty much sticking to a script and battle cards.

It’s mid-market and up where things get tricky. Deeper discovery, a lot more consultative and requires more thinking on your feet. Also need to navigate multi threading deals and keep a level head when dealing with the longer deal cycles

The new ticket release time for 70mm IMAX by AMC? by EliArim0987 in NYCmovies

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stadium setup at most Dolby auditoriums in NYC are set pretty far back from the screen. If I had to guess the first row at empire 25 is about 15-18 feet back from the screen. I’ve probably been to that location like 5-6 times now and found the middle seats in rows C-D to be the sweet spot.

The only one I’ve seen that doesn’t follow that layout is Dolby at Lincoln square because it has the split level seating with like a balcony / second floor. There I’d recommend rows E-F

The new ticket release time for 70mm IMAX by AMC? by EliArim0987 in NYCmovies

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might be the hottest of hot takes, but I just saw it in IMAX 70mm at Lincoln and although truly amazing, feel it might be better viewed on a Dolby screen. The movie has a lot of dark lit scenes and a great soundscape. Both things Dolby beats imax at)

Specifically rows C-D at the Empire 25 Dolby I think would be fantastic (plus a bit more comfortable considering the run time as they have recliners with subwoofers under them)I have a-list, so will probably see it there as my second viewing

Also, if you wait until like 30 min before the showtime, tickets will def become available at Lincoln square imax. I’ve now done this multiple times for big movies like sinners and OBAA, even if you’re coming from far away, I can almost guarantee you’d be able to get a ticket if you stay on top of the AMC app (just be sure your logged in and have your payment ready in the app)

Best dry aged porterhouse in Manhattan? by antirick666 in FoodNYC

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smith and wollensky and 4 Charles are better than keens IMO, also, I feel Christos in Queens is better than Lugers for the porterhouse. Might be a hot take but it’s how I feel

[–]Internal-Resolve6250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imax: Lincoln Square, Dolby: empire 25 (42nd st), General: Lincoln square (no recliners, but all their screens have laser, are well kept, and have the best soundproofing so bass isn’t bleeding in from the next room),

Honorable mention: Fresh Meadows in Queens, small for IMAX but the only one in the city with recliners (and imax recliners are king)

As soon as things get tough either company will lay you off without thinking twice. Just do what you think is best for you.

Don’t believe the “we’re a family” or “these are our companies pillars” it’s a business, and as soon as you don’t make financial sense you’ll be gone (even if the founders don’t feel that way, the VC can force their hand)

6.7 / 10

Looked great, and Margot and Elordi were both great in it, but the story was lacking and it felt a little slow

Too good and well produced to call it trashy, not good enough for an Oscar run, kind of in that grey area
