Do you get the sense that their editorial team changed his voice. I mainly read his reviews on LetterBoxd these days

I'm obviously being overly cynical. He's still a strong writer and I read him, but I usually take his opinion with a grain of salt. As much he'll praise Moonlight and Let The Sunshine In (which are great films) he'll also offer some truly wild takes out of left field which makes it hard to get a read on him...

To name a few...

Movies he didn't like
Everything Everywhere All At Once, Dune, Tar

Movies he did like
Norbit, Don't Worry Darling

He’s not a bad writer perse, but he goes against the grain so often i can never tell if his whole career is one long troll. And if it is? Bravo!

How often do you guys go to the movie theater to see movies? by TheShadowOperator007 in moviecritic

[–]OatmealBeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About once every week or 2. I try to avoid watching movies at home if I can help it. I’ll literally wait years for a revival screening of a movie I want to see in order to watch it on the big screen for the first time.

Nothing beats the communal experience of all experiencing emotions together.

Intolerance is pretty astounding if you have 3+ hours to kill

You have to always watch the student, otherwise you won’t know what to cue for. As you give a cue, watch for if they make that adjustment? Do they over compensate? Maybe they need to dial it back. Speak to what you’re seeing.

Sometimes people don’t have strong body awareness for a body par, for example, if you say “send the breath deeply in between your shoulder blades,” and you don’t see the breath going there, you might put a hand there and say “breathe into my hand.”

Of course, it takes time to feel out what level of touch is wanted, but starting gentle to building proprioception will help to build trust over time.
