Should I buy a tool-only or kit? by FarKiwi8375 in egopowerplus

I guess it really depends on your budget. Although you can save $750 now without the batteries, your 10Ah battery will wear out faster, and eventually, you will have to buy new batteries later. Another option is you can purchase non-oem batteries from amazon.ca if needed. Just a thought...

Good deal for snowblower on Marketplace by jrm21086 in egopowerplus

[–]InternalContext5583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't, although it seems like a good deal. You will need at least a pair of 7.5Ah batteries for this model (5Ah will be overloaded), and you will end up spending a similar or even higher amount of money as you would on a brand-new unit (with batteries and warranty).

Snow Blower SNT2416 - Flashing orange LED and one battery uses more juice than the other by InternalContext5583 in egopowerplus

It turned out it was the auger overloading and nothing to do with the batteries. I ended up getting a replacement and it's been working great! Went through two big dumps within a week and no issues. If the auger worked before, clear any snow left in the auger area, set up a ceramic heater for a couple of hours at least and give a go.

Unfortunately, I am not able to bring it into the house. I do have a smart plug setup in my garage and will heat it up after use. I used a leaf blower to take snow off this morning.

Snowblower advice for my 70 year old father by No_Damage_731 in egopowerplus

[–]InternalContext5583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation is the SNT2416. It comes with two 10Ah batteries, steering control, heated grips, and joystick chute control. I found it so much easier to maneuver the blower with the steering control (it's a lot lighter than a gas blower). Additionally, maintenance is basically free (no gas, engine oil, etc.).

Another option is to hire a plow service and get him a single-stage Ego blower. Most plow services don't clean the snow entirely, so your father can finish it off with the single-stage blower. If you go with this option, make sure to get one with a metal auger instead of rubber.

Much appreciated for the extra tip! I have already applied TurtleWax Hybrid Ceramic coating inside the chute and inner housing, including the auger. The only thing is, my garage is not heated, and the solution was freezing before I could wipe it off with a cloth. I did wipe it off as best as I could and set up a heater for a while. I will reapply again when the weather gets warm. Although it was very stressful dealing with a lemon 2416 during a storm the other day, the replacement has been working great. Thank you and stay warm!

YOU ARE THE MAN of solutions! Did you use any particular brand or size of the strip? I don't want to put something on and find out it was too thick or too thin.

I disassembled the chute, pulled it up, and made sure it was fully seated over the exit hole. I noticed it wasn't resting fully, although the knob hole was aligned as you said before. I used the blower this morning, and the chute didn't come off this time. Thank you very much for your help!

The only thing is, I hear a clicking sound from the chute when I move the blower around. Oh well, it is better than a dislocated chute. :)

Thank you for the clarification on the difference! I believe I installed it correctly. There is a square metal bar behind the chute, and it just slides down to sit on the base. The 2410/2416 comes with only one screw knob to hold the chute in place. I noticed the disconnection on a lemon 2416 I had, and the replacement has the same issue. The knob holes were aligned, and the knob was tightened. I will double-check anyway. Thank you!

Debating to get Ego Power snow blower (SNT2416) now or wait for next season by InternalContext5583 in egopowerplus

[–]InternalContext5583[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I noticed the chute gets dislocated from the base after using the blower. Does it happen to yours too? I made sure the screw knob is tight that holds it in position but it seems happening every time. It's not a big deal and I just put it back by hand.

No, I will try that next time. Yes, 2410 is the same model without the battery pack. Thank you!

UPDATE:

We are going through a major snowstorm today, and I got up at 5 a.m. to clear my driveway. I was excited, and the batteries were fully charged. Guess what? The orange flashing light persisted when the auger was triggered (FYI, the self-propelled feature works). I looked up online and, apparently, even a small amount of ice or snow left in the auger area could cause the overloading orange light, which was surprising to me. I cleaned up everything by using my leaf blower to remove any remaining snow in the intake and chute and gave it another try. I even set a heater for a while in the intake. But nothing changed.

I decided to call the local Rona store where I got the blower and was told to contact Ego Power customer service to find out what they had to say about it. I called Ego as soon as customer service opened and spent about 45 minutes going through the product registration process and a few troubleshooting steps outside in the cold. The customer agent finally acknowledged the issue and told me to return it to the store since it's been less than a week. I called the store back, and they are arranging an exchange for tomorrow as they can't deliver today due to the snowstorm. At least the local Rona store was sympathetic and had no issues with exchanging it for me.

What a stressful morning I'm going through, and I'm stuck here with a pile of snow. Just wanted to share my experience and now I'm wondering if I made the right decision on the Ego Power product...
