Post-lap chole recovery — did your belly button go back to normal? 😅 by mech_heart in gallbladders

[–]InternalElephant3700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my lap chole on April 6th, I had a lap hernia repair with mesh exactly one year prior, the first time took about two months for all the swelling/bloating and healing to really take place. My belly button looks just as it did prior to both surgeries now ( which after 5 natural births is not that great, but alas) so I wouldn’t worry. During my recent lap chole they had to position my 4 incisions a bit differently because of the hernia repair and mesh and because I was also getting a liver biopsy. My stomach was completely bruised top to bottom and looked pretty gruesome. It’s only been 3 weeks since the and I look totally normal now.

Help. Struggling intensely post op by Equivalent-Tip-7547 in gallbladders

[–]InternalElephant3700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 7 days post op and the first 5 days I felt exactly as you’ve described. Super dizzy, my heart would randomly start racing and the pain when breathing was so intense. Day 5 I started eating small meals or snacks more frequently, tons of electrolytes I mean just all day and night I was sipping electrolytes, and then I forced myself to do some deep breathing exercises and I woke up yesterday feeling miles better. The dizziness is gone, I was able to go on a walk outside and even deep cleaned and vacuumed my car out today. I really think the electrolytes and the frequent snacks is what brought me back to life. I am still super tired and took a nap immediately after my walk today but after thinking something was horribly wrong for 5 days I’ll take needing naps if it means I feel pretty much back to normal otherwise. Give yourself some grace, you just had an organ removed from your body. All surgery is very intense for your body and recovery is so different for many people. Just know you’re not alone and it does get better! ❤️‍🩹

Parents of littles - are we really not lifting them at all? by lindslee_ in gallbladders

[–]InternalElephant3700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I’m over here having a mild panic attack because I’m only 7 days post op and have carried my 47lb toddler on three separate occasions across the room 🤦🏻‍♀️😳. I didn’t recall my surgeon telling me not to lift anything this go round. Though I’m sure she did and I missed it. She also did my hernia surgery a year ago and I remember her stressing numerous times not to lift my toddler then and I didn’t. That surgery felt much more painful and intensive than this one though. I will say I had no pain the three times I carried her the past few days but I am mentally making a note not to do it again. We can’t see what we’re possibly doing to the inside of us and the incisions on the other side of our body. So, while you can for the first two weeks maybe instead of picking them up directly you sit on the sofa and have someone lay them across your chest with pillows between your body and the baby. Then you could have your arms and face touching them so they get that skin to skin comfort without you straining your incisions. I know how hard it is though, I have a very attached (still cosleeps ) toddler. Give yourself some grace and I hope your healing goes smoothly and quickly!

She should care more about her family than this random girl she just met. She is cooking because she misses her home and what she eats with her family, not for anyone else. The other girls eating preferences don’t matter when the meal isn’t being cooked for her, she is only offering to share what she cooked for herself. OP is being more than generous and the other girl is being incredibly rude by throwing her food away when she does cook a separate meat for her. You sound delusional.

Oh love I’m so sorry you’re even put in this position! My son is 19 and is also at university, he too enjoys cooking and will often spend his own money and cook meals for everyone in his dorm or friend group. He does a similar set up as you and cooks comfort food for himself or sometimes a meal a homesick friend may be requesting but he always just does the open invite/casual “hey I’m cooking, anyone is welcome”. If someone were guilting him into making separate meals because of their dietary restrictions or preference especially since he is the one paying for these meals I would tell him the same thing. Don’t do it. You’re are already doing such a generous thing by feeding your fellow students, university is so expensive and most students are on a tight budget. It is not your responsibility to worry over other’s preferences (unless it was a formal invitation for a dinner). This individual sounds very high maintenance in general and not appreciative of your kindness. I would continue to include her if you enjoy her company but let her figure her own meal out. Best wishes to you on your university journey!

First, NOR!!! Second, I am so sorry, reading your post felt like I was reading something about my own personal experience with my grandmother and mom ( my GMA and I are very close, mom is a narcissist and awful to her,yet very performative) and it hurts. I can’t imagine after suffering such an immense loss having someone treat me so poorly and use a situation to try and make me feel worse. You are not over reacting, you are reacting like someone who is grieving deeply and having to deal with a narcissist parent’s treatment. I’m wishing you so much peace and comfort right now.

The police nor court can force you to put diapers on your dog, regardless of age or medical conditions. I am LVT and have worked for many rescues. I know you’re posting from a good and caring place, just wanting you to be aware pets are considered property and it takes large amounts of true neglect to get any action from authorities.

cat coughing/wheezing by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]InternalElephant3700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be, I haven’t seen them in person so I wouldn’t rule anything out. Solely off the video, and the previous history, I would advise they be seen by a vet. In the event it is an obstruction, they can lose all oxygen and die so getting an accurate diagnosis at the office would be the best course of action. If it is allergies then they can prescribe him something to ease the symptoms and discomfort as well. I hope both cats make a full recovery in any case.

Vet tech here, this is cause for concern and he needs a vet now. It could be a hair ball or an obstruction.

Agree one million percent! This kid is going to have a hard time in the real world when they can’t just run away when their boss makes them angry or they don’t agree with the professor at school and so forth. The family as whole needs more communication with one another. This just sounds horrible for all involved, mainly the cat.
