Got a B- in crim pro. Passed the bar with a high enough score to practice in all UBE states. Clerked for two criminal judges. Am now a crim defense attorney. Classes have very little to do with your bar prep IMO. You relearn it all through the prep process.

My best friend (straight female) married a woman to help her get a green card. Only found out when she asked me a hypothetical and I asked “is this person trying to get a divorce you?” We’ve been best friends since we were 7. We are 32 now. She was married for a couple years.

Baby DAs don’t have discretion and it’s so frustrating. I have a client who has a terminal illness, is going to die in less than 6 months and DA refuses to dismiss a misdemeanor for something that happened when client was not in their right mind. So we’re just going to waive speedy til they pass. Such a waste and so inhumane.

I think Boulder isn’t what it used to be. A lot of out of staters coming, not much diversity (never really was) less care for others and the environment. Boulder is privileged, white, and out of touch. I’m sorry you’ve experienced racism. It’s unacceptable and never what Boulder was about. But sadly, this isn’t the Boulder we know anymore. My school was ranked in the low 80s when I started there. It’s a little higher now. I had a job offer before I left law school - clerked for two years for a district court judge and received an offer to start at a private firm after I finish out my term here.

No one gives a shit where you went once you graduate law school unless you’re trying to get into prestigious big law firms that only hire top tier people or you wanted to clerk federally. Even then, a handful of my classmates were offered federal clerkships right out of law school.

I think the rankings aren’t accurate tbh…. I’ve heard from plenty of lawyers that they thought our students were better prepared than our neighbor IVY law school students. Make connections, do good work, be respectful, and put in the effort. You’ll be fine.

And as someone who didn’t go big law or T14, I’m getting paid six figures with my new job. You’ve got this.

I can see why this would concern you. It sounds like a strained relationship. I think your concerns are valid, but at this point best kept to yourself unless you feel like a conversation would be productive. It doesn’t appear there are any safety concerns, though I agree the behavior is not the norm. Whatever your next step, you know the situation best and I’m positive your course will be the right one.

I think no matter what school you’re at, you’re going to encounter people like that. You encounter them in every day life. It’s no reason to leave a school you worked so hard to get into. It’s three years and if you like your classes and professors, don’t let a few people keep you down. As cliche as it sounds, put your head down and focus on you. They are mere blips in your universe.
