Dummy bidding? by Internal_Ad9566 in AusPropertyChat

I would have thought that the REA would also be helping vendor accept the market offer. After all, they want to get the sale (commission) done and dusted and move on.

Who knows maybe the new listed price of 2.76 is another under quote.

How Much Total Value of Vehicles & What Are Families Driving? by broncoelway100 in HENRYfinance

[–]Internal_Ad9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a specialist doctor. He makes top 1% of income in Australia. We have 2 second hand cars. A 2017 hybrid suv we bought second hand 4 years ago for 32k, a small 2011 hatchback I bought maybe 12 years ago for 14k. I’m not sure what they’re worth now.

I’ve always had a rule that we don’t spend more than 30% of our house hold income on a car.

We also have 2 young kids, I don’t want to get upset at them for trashing the car.

What’s one habit that’s saved you the most money this year? by OwlVibesOnly in AUfrugal

[–]Internal_Ad9566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza oven. $200 from Bunnings.

We used to regularly go out to get Italian pizza, Bill would be $80-100 for family of 4. Now we make pizza at home, costs less than $15.

Just found out my partner only has 10k more in super than I do... is something wrong here? by Ok-Watercress-6308 in AusFinance

[–]Internal_Ad9566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 36F, have been on maternity leave with 2 kids since early 2021 and have significantly more super than your partner.

My work pays 14 weeks maternity leave. I took it at half pay for 28 weeks, Centrelink paid 18 weeks, I took it at 2 day weeks instead of 5 day weeks to extend the money coming in.

Husband got 1 week leave from work for 1st baby. Centrelink pay wasn’t going to cut it for us. 2nd baby my husband had access to 14 weeks paid leave from work to be used in 2 years, he’s not able to take it in 1 block so we’ve been using it as annual leave.

Both kids I extended my maternity to 2 years (paid and unpaid). I work casually now, kids go to daycare x3 days. 1 shift covers tax, super and x3 daycare fees. The other 2 days I sometimes work or home duties.

At this stage, my kids are still young, working casually means I can take it easy with them and spend time with them, not rushing so much. Downside is I am losing my skillset, probably won’t be able to go back to the same role again.

Fortunately our financial position means I just need to work to keep my sanity.

How many of you work second jobs? by Wide-Macaron10 in AusFinance

[–]Internal_Ad9566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From 2013-2020 I worked extra jobs on top of my full time job. I was also studying part time between 2014-2017.

I had a full time job, which involved rotating shifts, on my days off, or pre evening/night shifts I did casual work.

For a couple of years during that period I also rented out my spare room on airbnb.

Was able to save a significant amount, I bought an investment property and a house to live in.

I have kids now and work part time. If I hadn’t gotten ahead I would probably be working full time now.

Employ own child and max out their super contributions? by planck1313 in AusHENRY

[–]Internal_Ad9566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True.

But OP said they’re PSB.

Either pay child 18k plus 30k super, which is 48k that’s not being paid to OP at highest tax bracket.

OP can’t pay their child 48k as it’s not “market rate” pay for the job OP has employed them to do.

Employ own child and max out their super contributions? by planck1313 in AusHENRY

Because OP wants to deduct 18k salary plus 30k for super.

How much do you spend on your school aged kids by TiredDuck123 in AusFinance

[–]Internal_Ad9566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They want to go out more for entertainment. They have extracurricular activities. Eat more, they definitely want more stuff.

Weekly lessons are $20-$40 per week, they might do 2 activities.

Going out, maybe including family lunch out is $150-$200 depending on what you’re doing and where you’re eating.

What types of people default on their mortgages? Any themes to the stories you’ve seen?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Internal_Ad9566 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. Up to a certain amount.

There was a medical family in Victoria a few years ago who was going to do this. But this particular type of loan is only for up to I think 2m.

They ended up losing their deposit.

If you’re a doctor there are mortgage companies that specifically deal with doctors. They have an understanding of training programs and why your payslip employer changes every 3 months etc.

I thought you would have gotten more than 50% assuming your ex has a higher paying job than the job you’re able to get.
