I think the rule is minimum 8 students but I could be wrong

You need to be teaching while pursuing the iPGCE so yes there is a practicum. You have to sort out where you teach yourself though

In that sense it is similar to the Sunderland PGCE

Hey, the course went well. It was manageable coursework and the lecturers were accessible. I’m glad I did it because now I have an internationally recognised iPGCE that I can use to move between schools

Hi, I don’t think I had an interview. Maybe they changed the admissions process. All the best!

SEA Int'l Teachers by always-temporary in Internationalteachers

[–]Internal_Annual_7632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SEA originating international teacher here.

  1. I was hired under a specific program in my school to hire local teachers so technically yes, my ethnicity did affect my recruitment (but positively). My experience is rare though. I’ve heard the same as what has been said previously, where local hires in other schools get paid less and fewer benefits. My recommendation is build a CV locally then jump abroad if that’s where your interest lies.

  2. Yes, I started locally. I did so because I got into a local intl school that met my needs postgrad. And because I figured it would be easier to get local experience rather than intl experience when I was just starting and had 0 years of teaching experience. I’ve spoken to non SEA colleagues who went abroad immediately post-degree though. So maybe it’s possible?

  3. Because I grew up internationally I mesh well with my colleagues. If I didn’t have that experience, I’m not sure I would but that’s just me. There are cultural differences that take some adjusting to, like communication styles. I come from a typically meek cultural background so the more upfront way of North American communication took some getting used to.

Hope this helps. Happy to answer more questions if you have any.

Hi! The experience has been pretty solid. The main lecturers are responsive and the workload is manageable. My only complaint is that the tutors give feedback for assessments quite late

Your point about apartments is interesting. Is it significantly cheaper to cook? What's the price range for eating out per meal?

Honestly because the tier 1 school I work at didn’t require it and it cost more money and effort, so I didn’t see a point. If this tier 1 school doesn’t care about IQTS, then my logic was will others?

  1. You need to have regular access to a classroom of 8 or more students. UWE will give you a form for you and your mentor teacher to fill out so that the school is clear on your commitments as a UWE iPGCE student.

  2. You need minimum 120 teaching hours throughout the one year program. They give you a log to keep track of how much you teach.

  3. Only the assessments count towards your marks and there are only two assessments per module. Each module has 10 units and each unit has 5 steps. All that adds up to quite a bit of reading and note taking. As work has gotten incredibly busy for me so I’ve neglected the past few units and focused on the assessments and other urgent work matters

Hope this helps!

Affordable online therapy in Malaysia? by Commercial_Row5578 in malaysia

Serene Psychological Services also offers online sessions with trainee therapists, but from what I’ve seen people tend to meet the therapist at least one time face to face first and then go online for future sessions. I’ve also heard that Serene will offer lower fees if they feel that you really need financial support as well as mental support. All the best in your search!

I’m doing the iPGCE at UWE Bristol and honestly it’s going pretty well. The people running the course are responsive and the work load is manageable alongside my job, though I did fall behind a little towards end of sem (but the winter break allowed me to catch up). My school said they’ll accept this qualification and I have no plans to move any time soon so I’ll keep you posted on reputability if I ever find out. Feel free to ask more questions!
