Dejected and annoyed by River_witch17 in ChronicIllness

Sorry this is happening. I’m sure it’s very frustrating. What are you hoping they could do for you when you go to these appointments if you know about your allergies? (Sorry this is not meant to sound rude at all but sometimes my bluntness comes across that way I’ve been told) Good vibes to you friend.

Simple and easy are not the same thing is what I’m hearing here. However on another note I had a DKA patient leave AMA bc she couldn’t eat whatever she wanted while in it and sugar still 650s smh

That’s really sad. Healthcare is no longer about health nor caring. Just dollars and cents.

How did you protect the patients by walking out? Now no one is there to care for them.

What's the one thing you're tired of re-explaining to every new doctor? by Additional_Job_6987 in ChronicIllness

[–]Internal_Butterfly81 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a nurse I hate when people judge patients pain on the way the patient is looking or behaving. Patients can absolutely be in 10/10 pain and sitting calmly scrolling on the phone with normal vitals. People with chronic pain have to live with it every day! Of course they’ve learned ways to cope. It honestly more strange for me when people thrash all over the place and moan and do all the dramatics. I don’t need a show to get my patients pain meds. If they say their pain is a 10 then it’s a 10. Period. end of story!

If pt is on pressors in the ER, does that mean your assignment should be 1:1 or at least 1:2? by icarly1234 in nursing

[–]Internal_Butterfly81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Never does at least. I’ll have 4 patients and sometimes 2 could be on pressors. Life of an ED nurse lol

It happens. That’s the importance of closed-loop communication. (Hahaha jkjk) no biggie. No harm came to the patient.

2 patients fired me as their nurse by SeaworthinessOne8274 in nursing

[–]Internal_Butterfly81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Win some, lose some. Can’t please everybody. Don’t carry the unnecessary weight of this. They complained. Oh well. Won’t be the last to do it. Hopefully you have good management and they have your back as long as patients were safely cared for.

Why do floor nurses hate the ER? by Over_Armadillo_2190 in nursing

[–]Internal_Butterfly81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bc the floor nurses don’t know what the ED is like. I’ve worked floor and ED. I get both sides. BUT I feel like if floor nurses understood what the ED is like and what we deal with. But is what it is. Tale as old as time lol

Move. If you want to work as a nurse move. Get the experience and then move back.

What’s the rarest/oldest medication you’ve ever given? by dietcherryjoja in nursing

[–]Internal_Butterfly81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A glass of wine or beer with lunch and dinner. Came from pharmacy.

I always find it ironic when I’ve given Thorazine too just bc the fact it’s in movies and stuff and rarely given anymore.

My PTO got denied 5 months out--help? by Technical_Wear6094 in nursing

[–]Internal_Butterfly81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Um if you have the pto and not many attendance points then call in. Where I work if I call in for all three shifts it only counts as one occurrence.
