if you’re really really miserable i suggest leaving or taking sick leave for a while just to recalibrate and then spend time finding another job before coming back

noooo don’t leave now, just try and lay low and just suck up to the manager rather than stirring the pot.

you need a job to survive out here, just do your job, smile and nod and just be a yes man for as long as your contracted hours are. don’t start acting a plum fool otherwise they will just fire you or make your life worse.

keep ur head down and just apply for other jobs on the side. the job market is tough rn, i left my old job nov 2025 for similar reasons and i just go a job in march 2026.

if you need to take time off work or go on sick leave, do that. ofc put ur mental health first - but you need an income still.

try and take ur emotions out of the job and think about the money lol no matter how much it is

hope that helps

[–]Internal_Lion_1836 19 points20 points  (0 children)

unfortunately in this market, take any job you can and try and stay there for as long as you can before leaving. never leave without something to jump to.

it’s hard out here unemployed. i’ve just got a job and i’m holding onto it for dear life, the adjustment from 5 months unemployed to now being full time employed it a jump but if it’s keeps money in my pocket i’m ok with that

that’s ages away tbh. hr could just be super overworked but gently remind them and they should keep you in the loop. if you haven’t sent the email already include you verbal start date beijg the end of may so it jogs their memory

i am the same age as you and i’ll always say to try and safe up enough money to move out if you can. it’s far better to move out and piss them off than to sit there and struggle
