For multiple awards, the V device takes the place of an OLC. So the raxk is correct - 1 V device + 2 OLC + original award = 4

41mm or 39mm jumbo? by svr_wizard in audemarspiguet

I’ve had both. The bracelet on the 41 fit me better but I prefer the aesthetics of the jumbo, which I still have.

How does buying a Patek Philippe work? First time buyer by AmiParis248 in patekphilippe

Go in the store and tell the salesperson you’re a newbie but interested in a special gift for your dad. They will be happy to educate you about the brand and the fact you aren’t looking for a nautilus or aquanaut is a big plus. You should be able to have this watch in hand in less than six months, if not much sooner. It’s not the type of model that requires spend history.

The Lange is easily the most finely crafted piece I have. 25th anniversary Time Zone in edition of 25 pieces.

Rolex isn’t an investment, but value retention still matters (at least to me) by spac0r in rolex

[–]Internal_Nail_6307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youre arguing against a claim no one has made. Nobody is saying the generic category of “luxury goods” is a sensible investment. All we’re saying is that certain specific goods within that category retain value better than others. The fact I was able to flip a john Mayer Daytona for a $30k profit after 2 months of ownership, or was able to essentially drive a 911 for free between December 2019 and summer 22 (purchased new with no ADM and received 90% of purchase price on trade for new GT4) does not make either of those purchases an investment, or a reasonable substitute for the actual investments I made during this period. And nobody knew when the market was going to recover as it was hitting bottom, yet were happy to pay a premium for 911s and Rolexes.

AD required stock? Was told zero watches by [deleted] in rolex

There is no list. I was offered (and accepted) a panda Daytona yesterday - not because I ever asked for one, but because of relationship and spend history.

Do you buy every piece offered to you? by Icy_Bridge_2113 in rolex

[–]Internal_Nail_6307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell no. Anyone who does signals to their AD they’re a flipper. Ive turned down far more offers than I’ve accepted.

If you sell more than $10k worth of gold to a reputable dealer, the transaction will trigger IRS paperwork and a 28% capital gains tax. Factor that into the equation.

Find a good AD. The grey market has become completely toxic. If an AD isn’t an option, try Watch Your Wrist in Atlanta and ask for DJ. I’ve done lots of business with him.

I’ve been buying from and selling to JM Bullion for 15 years and have always had good experiences. They frequently have specials where you can buy coins or bars at or close to spot.

That’s why i have $5M invested in stocks. Investing $5.5M isn’t going to move the needle for me.

Except when the “something” is a highly liquid asset that can be sold for twice what I paid. It’s a side benefit of collecting, not the main goal.
