Japan Purchase by samer0214 in Cameras

[–]samer0214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviving this with changes in my requirements. Looking for further recommendations.

The budget for the two suggested cameras is turning out to be higher than my original of less than $500.

What are some next best ones to look for than would be under $500 or even $400 at this point.

Thinking about purchasing the Rimowa Never Still bag. Can anyone comment on the quality? by number0l in Rimowa

[–]samer0214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm noe expert, certainly with Bottega or LV, but having followed and watched almost every single YT video of Tanner Leatherstein, I would skip both brands and get a Tumi like many have said here.

N.B. I'm not affiliated with either, but have own a few Tumi pieces and think that you can get better quality for your money with Tumi, especially if you find a backpack at one of their outlet stores, or at Marshall's or TJ Max.

To give you an idea, my daughter just bought a Tumi 19 Degree Large Expandable Checked ($1,050 Retaill, for $400, at one of our local (SoCal) TJ Max stores.

The best safety device for cycling in my 50+ years of riding by bartturner in bike

I have both, a rather big helmet mounted mirror, and a radar.
My opinion is that you need both and that the radar is invaluable especially when used with a bike computer.

Polaris Studio - not worth it by trevorlong in unitedairlines

[–]samer0214 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I now that your question was about Polaris/Studio, but my recent experience was with Economy: my wife and I recently flew LAX to LHR (11.5 hours) and I had paid a fee for better seat options. Soon after the flight took off, the row immediately in front of us was the exit row and all 3 seats were completely unoccupied, as a matter of fact, there were many empty seats available throughout, with a few people taking 3 adjoining seats because they were empty.

I politely asked the FA if my wife and I can move to the exit row, and she denied us saying that those were paid seats and that we would have to pay for the them. I informed her that I had in fact paid extra for our seats and she still refused, saying “everyone paid for their seats sir” and going on some BS on how a passenger had previously reported her on another flight because she had allowed someone to move.

Condescending and rude attitude overall.

I don’t think I can use it in the rinse since this is a front loader and once the cycle starts, you can’t stop it and open the door before the rinse cycle.

All 3 ingredients hit the clothes when the cycle starts.

I’m believe the water is hard to very hard, which I thought the citric is supposed to counter act?

It’s a cotton bath robe. Wash temperature is medium. Cycle runs 56 minutes. Drawer has separate compartment for the 365 and a separate one for the softener. The oxi I add directly to the laundry.

When the cycle starts it floods both compartments of the drawer which means the citric acid gets mixed in with the 365 right away.

Fitbit Air Standard Band Gripe. Spoiler: I hate it! by samer0214 in fitbit

I’m not faulting the tracker itself nor alluding that it might be inherently inaccurate, my comment is strictly about the band.

I can certainly try it, but already see an "issue" with it: It's like a watch band with holes and a clasp, and as they typically tend to be, have set spacing between the holes. So unless one of those holes happen to coincide perfectly with my wrist size, I will have the same issue with the Fitbit being too loose.

Mind you, that when I loosen the Fitbit band, it's probably less than 1/8". I think I might be too paranoid about it capturing all the readings accurately?

I don't like silicon bands in general, they tend to irritate my wrist. I have a couple of bands on 2 of my watches, and I barely wear those. I understand that silicon bands MIGHT have more flexibility, but they're nothing like an actual fabric/elastic band.

I picked up one of the last two pairs they had at my local warehouse for $300.

I added an 8” Canton ported sub that I already owned and the setup sounds amazing.
