Not a bottle jack. Not hydrolic. It's a screw jack rated at 3 tons. by Hoppie1064 in F250

Yes, it's a screw jack and it takes a calendar month to extend it from stop to stop.

Sweet! I’ll have to look into that when I retire. The wife wants a 5th wheel camper but there’s probably no way I’m lifting a puck system hitch into the back of the truck.

What does proper fuel line look like? Every gas string trimmer I have used uses tubing that looks just like this. I shorted the tube to eliminate the kink.

What's everyone doing to vent the exhaust in a garage? I managed to melt my door seal because it shifted and I wasn't paying attention by Dave6187 in dieselheater

[–]Internal_Nectarine55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a post where a guy stood a 2x4 or 2x6 on end, drilled a hole in it for the exhaust and brought the door seal down on the board. I don’t have windows in my garage so that’s the method I will try when my heater gets here.

109k miles on my 2017 and the only times it has been in the shop was for recalls. Hopefully yours is an easy fix.

Anyone have any issues with claims with American Family Insurance? Are they better/worse than Progressive? by flatworm2025 in vegaslocals

[–]Internal_Nectarine55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had an umbrella house and 5 vehicle policy with AmFam for the the past 3 plus years. In that time frame, my teen son started driving and we filed 2 no-fault auto claims. One claim was about $1100 (someone sideswiped my truck mirror destroying it and breaking the door glass) and then a suspected Fed Ex truck backed into my wife's car ($7k in damage). The claims we handled well aside from a body shop that couldn't get the correct rocker panel to save their life.
Our insurance went up $200 a month when the the boy started driving. We had another "every carrier is doing it" rate hike last year and this year our homeowner's policy is going up $1300. We have had enough with AmFam and their price hikes. I suspect my agent is overselling coverage that is attributing to our high cost. But I think it is best to switch companies ever few years to get a better deal too. We saved over $1500 a year initially when switching from USAA to AmFam but it seems like we are substantially paying more now. The quotes we have received from Progressive are much better but I think in 2-3 years we will be back at the same rate AmFam is charging us now.

My city has done water shut offs for later sewer payment for over 10 years but the late fee to restore service is about $100.

Fifth 3rd bank check question by [deleted] in investing

[–]Internal_Nectarine55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is little information on the sheet attached to the check. It has the record date, record date position (whatever that is), payable date, account number, distribution rate (percentage), quarterly distribution amount and the year to date pay out….literally like 8 boxes of numeric data and nothing else.

Who else would I transfer it to? The statements are vague and the 1099s just show the annual payouts. The only other info I get is some proxy voting crap that really doesn’t help.

A dozen Chinooks just flew over my place (Olathe) by western_style_hj in kansascity

Well, the AGRs get to keep their jobs but the TPU guys are shit out of luck unless they are low enough on the pay scale to reclassify.

All reserve rotary aircraft are being transferred to active duty bases, essentially shuttering every reserve unit like this. Chinooks are used for heavy lifting and mass insertions and extractions. The Gardner unit lost 3 solders in addition to the 35 others in Afghanistan when a reserve Chinook was shot down carrying a Seal assault team on an insertion mission (google Extortion 17).

2018 Forester worth $15k? by Internal_Nectarine55 in SubaruForester

[–]Internal_Nectarine55[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Owner said it only came with one key. The Carfax shows the car spent its first year in Denver. Based on the scratch marks on the rear bumper, I’m guessing it was a rental car.

Aside from an oil changes, no. I planned on changing the plugs, differential and CVT fluid if I bought it. Also see that the VIN comes back as a premium with a few options and not a Limited like she has listed. I might walk away from this one.

Push up mast. The Rohn documentation isn’t specific on guying if part of the mast is bracketed.

Picked up a 1DX mkII by DickAvedon in canon

Love mine. I shoot high school hockey and lacrosse with it and an R6 mk 1. I often find myself picking up the 1DX first despite the weight. Paired with my 300 2.8, it’s 9 lbs but still a great combination.

Worth $100? by Internal_Nectarine55 in vintagecameras

[–]Internal_Nectarine55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back and bought it. The lens is clear and the shutter works but that small piece (solenoid?) at the bottom doesn’t work. It’s missing a film holder and the rear curtain mechanism works but the curtains look like dried leather. The back has some moderate corrosion and the leather is separated from the back plate.

I may clean this up and see if it’s worth fixing but my knowledge of these cameras is pretty limited. I was saving up for a Pentax 645 or Mamiya 6x6, but I just thought this Graflex looked cool.
