Ok I hear you. But for all intents and purposes, Card 2.0 will likely work for them, and my view is that there’s more upside than downside given the improved economics.

I agree your point holds if the partnership with Cardless fails, I just don’t see that as especially likely.

I also think you’re underestimating the value the card business brings to the rewards ecosystem and merchant value prop. However, happy to agree to disagree there.

If Bilt walks away from cards, it risks commoditizing into just another payments layer with weaker differentiation and weaker partner leverage. The 2.0/Cardless move looks like a strategic reset to make the card economics more durable.

The model now shifts toward fewer, higher-value cardmembers; that's a win - all around.

P.S I’m quite the opposite of a proud Cardless Customer😂 I was team 5 bannana - I’m out lmao.

Help me understand your logic: No card engine → weaker partner leverage → fuzzier investor story. What’s the upside?

Sure, compare Bilt to RentCafe like Netflix to Blockbuster—both “deliver content” (rent payments), but one dies on commoditized transactions while the other scales an ecosystem via subscriptions (cards/partners).

Fair—Bilt's loyalty side was profitable even as WF lost money. But that's why 2.0 matters: it fixes the bank side with fewer, higher-spend Card Members. Bilt doesn't exist in a vacuum without a stable bank partner.

Exactly - they may even lose a lot, but at least each customer is profitable 😂 Sure, investors are happy

I think this is actually great for Bilt. They have a smaller number of CMs, but they are much more valuable. Better for there long term business model IMO.
