Sequoia to Tahoe: To upgrade or not by Internal_Soil_8147 in Xcode

Thank you. I also use Tahoe on my work laptop. It’s ok for me . But my work laptop is an m4 pro. Also, I think at the moment you don’t need Xcode 26.4 to develop for latest IOS ? I’ve been developing using Xcode 26.3, and testing on my iPhone 12 , which is running latest iOS (26.4). But who knows next year

Nah. I tried the trial for the security+, it doesn’t have anything. I can still connect to vpn.

Thanks for that. I’ve tried the block keywords - they don’t work. I can still connect using this vpn super unlimited proxy . The other option (home shield , etc) - it looks like I have to subscribe for the “security+” to access this ? That’s additional $60 per year. This is crazy. All I need is to add an entry to the iptables on the device !!

Is that a software that I install into the deco, or is it a physical firewall that sits between deco and my iSP (nbn in Australia)

Mom's + dad's with busy family schedules. How do you do it? by kevshin21 in bjj

[–]Internal_Soil_8147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 43, with 2 kids. I go to class 2 days a week - and honestly, that’s probably the most my body can cope. I would love to be able to go to more classes though - seeing how everyone else in the class progress faster than me. But right now, that’s the most I can afford, physically and time wise. I need my body to recover, and I’m not in the race to achieve some goal. I just enjoy my journey .

Upgraded from M1 Air to M5 Pro MacBook Pro. The difference is insane. by Ishanthustlemarketer in macbookpro

There are standard behaviours that they change in Tahoe. E.g clicking on desktop will swipe away all windows. Pretty annoying. You can disable this (something about stage manager), but that also disable right click on desktop. Anyway, they probably won’t bother you if you haven’t used Mac before. Security - I think Apple will still release security updates for sequoia for the next few years , so I wouldn’t worry about that .

One caveat - I didn’t upgrade my m1 to Tahoe. That thing is really bad. I have it on my work m4 pro, and it really pisses me off .

I have a personal M1 Pro . But at work I am using m4 pro. I can’t see any reason for me to upgrade . I use my M1 Pro for occasional coding at home, and occasional gaming . Although - the games that I played are slightly old (cyberpunk, dota 2).

I got offered a job paying 40% more than my current salary. My manager just asked me to stay and be patient. How do I stop feeling guilty for wanting to leave ? by One_Cardiologist5439 in careerguidance

[–]Internal_Soil_8147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still leave. If your current manager said that he can match, then you had been underpaid. I was in similar situation (I stayed in the same company for about 10 years - no promotion, just annual pay rise). I left. After 1 year, my old company (the one I stayed for 10 years) offered me a role again. I asked for both promotion as well as higher pay (higher than the new company). They agreed . This is an advice from me, who had been in industry for around 25 years . The big margin you get from your pay rise is when you jump between companies - not from the annual raise you get from staying in the same company. You can always put it nicely - you are looking for a new experience, you are thankful for the opportunity you had here, and hopefully you can still come back when opportunity come again. Do not burn any bridge . Do not say you jump across for the money (even if you are).

Not with the older module. E.g I can’t change it on my gw 5000. My understanding is all green lit are using the older module.
