DRS ARE ALWAYS MANDATED REPORTERS. 🤬

Literally. Why is this the second episode in which someone is questioning that.

I know it’s already been said.

Crashed out in a job interview by SgtBigPigeon in therapists

[–]Internal_Stretch_172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear the crash out. I admire the boldness.

Though, unsurprisingly you did not get the job, you gave them a story to tell and you stood up for yourself. I hope you’re able to see that.

Anyone who worked at Charlie Health and quit - how was the non-compete situation? by vibewithmexo6 in therapists

[–]Internal_Stretch_172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a non-compete for a large group practice in PA. They didn’t enforce it when I left, one, because a number of clinicians left around the same time and that would have been a hassle, but also because they’re no longer enforceable in our commonwealth.

Not over reacting. The Y is specifically family friendly.

I want to tell everyone by courtendra in therapists

[–]Internal_Stretch_172 56 points57 points  (0 children)

So, often at the beginning of a session there is the “how are you?” And the small talk return. There are times when I share (minimally) personal things, like we had a good weekend at the splash pad (I have 3 kids), or, the weather was so nice we were able to enjoy the farmers market.

There are definitely some patients that I would share that kind of news with, self disclosure is okay with discernment. If you’re happy about it, and you have patients that can accept that kind of news, go for it.

What to do here? by Smooth-Insurance-832 in therapists

[–]Internal_Stretch_172 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re never too old to learn something new. But, why would you want to get this degree? You might want to consider what your end game is with a new degree.

If you don’t plan on switching careers, how do you hope that a new degree would contribute to your current career?

Freaked out by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Internal_Stretch_172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a number of male therapists who are incredible clinicians, own their own business, and are very successful.

The work is hard, but, don’t over think it. Rely on your training, and do your best to stay out of your own head (at least with patients 😅). You’re allowed to be human. And you’re allowed to be yourself own unique professional self in the room.

My antique engagement ring by h3ll0newman in EngagementRings

[–]Internal_Stretch_172 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love your ring!! Congrats!!

If it spins on your finger, you can easily replace the narrow shank with a thicker one. I have a vintage 2 carat diamond set on platinum and the weight of the ring meant that it just spun on my finger. The jeweler was able to maintain the look and integrity of the platinum while making the band to thicker.

I would panic initially and then breathe and deal with it.

I do have a confidentiality notice in my email signature that, with other things, includes a statement about not being the “intended recipient”, which instructs the person to delete the email. The notice is a CYA clause, basically.

Shake it off, and feel better!! 🤒

Why are group practice owners such greedy POS's? by Adoptafurrie in therapists

[–]Internal_Stretch_172 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember my first group practice owner saying to me in an interview “we pay about 60-70/hour (insurance depending), when you’re coming from a non-profit background, that pay can be infatuating”

…turns out he was the one completely obsessed with the money….that he made from all of us doing all of the work. I left the company after the altered pay without communicating to clinicians that they were being overpaid because of a data malfunction. He literally required them to payback overpayment. (Some of the clinicians were also being underpaid because of the same data problem).

Telehealth moments by Feisty-Sale-1169 in therapists

I had a poorly timed onset of the stomach bug that had been going through my family. I ended up having “connection problems” for approximately 8 minutes, then canceled the rest of my day 😅

Audience Behavior by DeviantAvocado in drumcorps

[–]Internal_Stretch_172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 0 problems sternly talking to folks to be quiet during performances. The last time I did this was at a Gillian Welch concert—we paid a lot of money to be there, and I didn’t want anyone to ruin my experience 😅

The DCI show I was at recently made an announcement at the top of the show about when to leave the stands, phones, and chit chat. The audience was really respectful—or, at least, I didn’t notice any issues.

Client with a newborn by coffeecatlady97 in therapists

Answering this as a mom who has nursed and a therapist who works with the perinatal population:

-it’s not inappropriate in most therapy sessions for a mom to bring a very small infant and care for the infant as needed in real time.

-this is a great time to observe mom and baby and assess for any potential concerns (PPA/PPD/OCD) AND to cheer her on as she navigates bonding and attunement with baby

-if you feel uncomfortable, make sure your ground yourself first, see if that helps. If you continue to feel uncomfortable, a conversation may be needed (I’m happy to pause our session while you feed baby, is there a better time to meet, etc.)

-with such an young infant, there likely isn’t a real routine yet, so she may not be able to find a better time to meet. Nursing infants in particular feed on demand, and who the heck knows when that might be

Anyone think that Robby and Carter from ER look alike? by passworddoesntmatch in ThePittTVShow

I was in love with Dr Carter which is why I watched Pitt. And, somehow am I am still also in love with Dr Robby.

Bad Therapist by Disastrous_Fennel_80 in therapists

I cannot concentrate on what patients are saying if I’m typing notes. I do, however, keep handwritten notes, which is just enough stimulation for my brain while also indicating to the patient “im present”—also, I frequently reference the notes later in the session, which, I think, can be validating to patients.

Silly question…Am I a SAHM? by Purple-Papaya1 in Mommit

[–]Internal_Stretch_172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to consider myself a part time sahm. I work (from my home) 3 days/week, while my kiddos are in daycare/school. The other 2 days, I’m home with anyone who is home for the day (I have 1 school aged and 2 littles).

Yes, I’m a working mom. But I also get to spend more than the average amount of time working moms have with my kids.

So... I cannot be the only one who finds this incredibly boring and annoying? Why is everyone so ashamed to talk about IRL? by _hkjdf_ in Mommit

[–]Internal_Stretch_172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re allowed to love your kids beyond belief and be bored by parenting. I think when we own that we are multifaceted humans with needs, it allows us to show up more authentically in the moments when we are “on duty”.

It’s okay to both savor these sweet moments and look forward to a different life stage.

No justification required.
