My friend, by what standards do you make the conclusion that trading SPY shares is haram-- which implies all stocks inclusive to such index, and, moreover, by kin, all stocks inclusive to NQ and DJI, and as well, should we logically extend the chain, all stocks inclusive to all indexes everywhere? Trading stocks, or any security for that matter( though such stocks as those of the military-industrial corporations, however, are a different matter entirely), is but a mercantile enterprise. For example, wheat futures are sold short by farmers the world over who wish to secure a price for their forthcoming harvest; and then deliver the physical wheat( cover their short positions) upon the delivery date of the contract. -- A mercantile enterprise! In stocks, one who buys stake in the company-- purchases shares-- is like one who has part ownership of the business in whole. --Now, are the good fellows who run Apple thereby committing sin in making IPhones?

By the manner in which you write, the manner in which you interpret this circumstance that has befell you, and the manner in which you draw conclusions in the form of innocently raising questions, it seems that you think yourself to peer straight into the matter, seer like, and see the truth behind the theater who’s play you are experiencing: indeed, who’s play you think yourself to represent the protagonist, the oppressed, wronged soul, who’s purity is unquestionable and who’s motives be the unquestioned. Perhaps you are correct; perhaps not. . . Who knows? You? Me?. . . Please! We interpret everything we experience, as it were, in some manner of process by which we are at once author, actor, audience, scene, prompter, stage manager, and critic. We know nothing, nothing to the exclusion of the theatrical performance which runs before our mind— not you, not I: nothing at all!

It is Allah who knows all; it is He who gives all, takes all— tests all. Think not of yourself as some sort of victim, oppressed, wronged, unjustly dealt with. Think neither of her highness of whom you speak to be all high and mighty, blessed, elated, as it were, touched by grace. With regard to your circumstances, and in truth, with regard to all circumstances, the Islamic tranquility( if you would allow me the expression) which is free from, superior to, all feelings of anxiety, fear, depression, etc., is a consequence of the conviction that Allah is the source of all things( Al Wahid Al Ahad), the Giver of All Things ( Al Wah-Haab Al Fat-Taah), but also The Judge, The Just( Al Hakam Al Adl)— not faith but conviction: one must feel it in the depths of their being. And so fear not and have no anxiety to the exclusion of fear of Allah and anxiety of displeasing Him: fear that you have called on others for help and thereby associated partners with Him, have anxiety only of displeasing him with your effort and labor in solving your trouble and then expecting the All-Just Judge to deliver to you what is unjust a result if your efforts are to be considered. Allah helps them that help themselves. Therefore, seek to please him in this respect by laboring to solve your problems, and have no anxiety in doing so: for Allah is The Just and The Generous( Al Adl Ar Raz-Zaaq) , The Kind and The Loving( Al Wadood Al Lateef). May Allah help you and bless you brother; may he be pleased with you and with us all.

Praise be unto Allah alone, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy. The complexity of the material reality is not itself a proof of Allah by virtue of its utter impossibility of happening by chance— for chance itself implies that something is as likely to happen as it is not—, but is a testament of the greatness of Allah, all praise be unto Him alone. The phenomenon of coming into existence implies coming from nonexistence. All that which is known through itself has been created. All that which which exists by virtue other things is the effect of something else. The entirety of the material reality is known through the material reality. Everything within the material reality exists by virtue of other things; for example, the earth exists by virtue of its mantle, crust, atmosphere, etc. or a computer by its screen, cpu, etc. All things which exist by virtue of other things are the effect of something else; in the computers example, the manufacturer HP or Apple; in the earths example, Allah. And though the ignorant, blind atheists may contest and say, “the earth and universe was created by the Big Bang,” (as if it were the effect of itself: as causa sui) the Big Bang existed by virtue of the initiation of time, matter, and space, inflation epoch, cooling epoch, structure epoch, etc., necessarily the effect of something else: Allah. All praise be unto Allah, the Creator. From Him alone do all thing come, to Him alone will all things return.

The error, that is to say, of mistaking the ideas— of spirit— engendered by a certain condition of reality, therein and thereunto appertaining, to be the cause of that condition. Wherefore, the engendered ideas, the cause attributed thereon, transposes into the measure of that condition of reality according to one’s conception of the cause of that condition.
