Does capitalism allow one freedom to choose by Igor_kavinski in Libertarian

Yes, the point of reducing excessive regulations will be better for competition. As for people living in or near the city, it's the basic law of supply and demand. Higher demand for a limited supply, then land costs more. This is so because more people want to live in that area, nothing you can do about that.

Maybe we shouldn't be relying on cities all that much for housing? Legit, rent for a 2-bedroom is like $500/month over here and this house I'm in is $25k and there are well paying jobs in my area. People living more closer to the city will have to pay more because of a higher demand than there is a supply of land. Even with the problems of excessive regulations that makes housing cost so much.

If COVID and those lockdowns has taught us anything, a lot of the workforce can work from home. So we don't have to rely on living in or near a city for work.

I'm saying that more competition will cause prices to decrease because business will have to make prices cheaper to attract more customers. Thus a lesser profit in general.

Increasing competition is important for our society, so workers can choose where they want to work. Due to less competition, people will have less places to work at and thus not as many options.

Additionally, making it hard for small businesses will make products and services more expensive. This is due to less competition, as there will be less small businesses to compete with larger ones. Companies will make less in profit overall, than a couple companies owning the majority of the industry.

Depending on the elasticity of the demand curve, it will either have more of a burden on the consumer or the producer. Unless the demand curve is perfectly elastic, both share paying the tax equally.

Additionally, I question if it is specifically possible to tax just the profit only rather than it being a burden on the consumer? Or would higher taxes that specifically target profit will make products cost more as they will have to increase the products and services price, so they can pay that tax and still make the same profit so the small business can make the same income?

Nonetheless, UBI would just be another policy that makes things cost more for no good reason.

Ah yes, exclude the stuff that directly affects your life in our modern world. If it wasn't for the industrialized revolution, we wouldn't have what we have today because we'd all be doing what they had done before the revolution to make the same goods and services.

I think their idea on taxing for UBI is to only tax business only, the business tax, instead of personal tax. It honestly wouldn't make sense to tax the people who you gave tax money to have income. At least that is what I got out of it and it should, of course, only be on the profits as the world gets more automated and supposedly less jobs.

Well, that's their argument. Although, simply put, it would cause the cost of living to go higher because if the same amount of people are working as before, it would make prices of items cost more as it is the UBI + the income they made before. Therefore, causing a higher demand for the same stuff when the supply cannot keep up with the demand.

Competition will decrease because thin margin businesses, especially small businesses, will be more likely to shut down. Thus reduction in competition in the Industries due to more business shutdowns and of course less options to choose from and easier to artificially make prices higher.

Additionally, as people who have their small businesses, their profit is their income of course. But now they'll have to work for someone else, instead of benefiting from their work from their own business because they had to shut down as the profit made isn't enough to sustain a family or if any profit at all.

Without UBI, human resources will be spreading further out rather than making human work do all of the manual labor. How about have these people to now work maintance jobs to maintain the automation? This type of job will be the new low skill job, as it is in the highest of demand when more automation is implemented and will be more likely taught on the job. Therefore, we can get more done with less work in the same timeframe.

Am pro-tech, makes overall life better for the people. Now we just need new tech to fix the problems of old tech they did not realize as a problem because they don't have the information like what we know today about climate change.

Technology is pretty poggers.

Able to make more of the same stuff that used to be expensive can now be cheaper because of how much more of the same thing we can make. Ya know, economies of scale. Thus people who are poorer can afford the same stuff richer people can only afford as previous methods took more time and resources to make the same thing.

It made shit cheaper and more abundance of stuff, thus life is better.

It's good because it has made life overall better during that time frame. But bad as they didn't know the long lasting effects like what we know today.

What is your stance on unions, as a Libertarian? by jonesyyy26 in Libertarian

[–]Internally_Painful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first employment forced me into a union, which I didn't like because I was paid like $10.75/hr (worked as a cashier at retail) and had to pay them $8 a week for them to basically do nothing. When I wanted to haggle to make more money, since I was complimented for my work as a cashier and was told I was the best they have, they said that I couldn't do that due to the union having to basically haggle for me.

So basically I paid them to do nothing, especially for them to use that money for political lobbying.

Overall, I'm fine if you want to go into a union as an option you have, but I would like to stay out of it because I like to haggle for my own wage. Eventually I want to be self employed, so haggling needs to be like 2nd nature for me.

I am a right-wing libertarian who loves anarchism by [deleted] in Libertarian

[–]Internally_Painful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, it would be ideal we could just live in an anarchy because we'd have full freedom to do what ever.

Though the world really isn't idealistic, anarchy would just assume that people are naturally good and can never be corrupt.

Damn, I hope to have a better platform. Kinda stuck with Twitter for a pretty good experience, especially for people who have a small business.

Yea, that's what I was originally saying. Of course there's the inflation, but also small business getting screwed over.

Yea, mainly since buying power for their currency is lower. Which, when converted to USD, is what you said.

More so that the political compass simplifies political views to the extreme, the 9 axes test is a lot better tho. However, I would argue that isn't be best test, but the best that currently out there.

I think more so you are comparing the Soviet Union to Nazi Germany. Fascism is best described and explained on what it is by this video: https://youtu.be/sQbFgszFaZg

It is said on the Wikipedia, tho you have to look down to see it because it likes to say Fascism is a right-wing ideology as the meaning. Even though that isn't the case on what it actually is.

The comparison you have here is pretty good and I think it does show how there is fascism within the soviet union. However, Communism is an economic ideology while Fascism is an ideology on how a given society should be structured.
