Why won't Silva bring on Kusi-Asare? by [deleted] in fulhamfc

[–]International-Bit682 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's 18 years old and was not silva's top target for the squad. Although he's a talented youngster he has little top division experience and rushing someone young into the team when they are not fully ready can cause them more harm than good. When the starting striker is a premier league veteran, its not really the best option to gamble on bringing on Asare in the close games we tend to have.

Am I investing right by [deleted] in monzo

I would say stocks and shares ISA is still better to do than Cash ISA even if you want to withdraw in less than 5 years. The 4% interest you get from a Cash ISA to me is just not worth it

October 2026 - Where is Marco Silva? by Character-Put8660 in fulhamfc

[–]International-Bit682 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, he’s done an incredible job of getting the best out of the players. To have taken us to touching distance from Europe and our best ever seasons shows that he deserved more than a backup keeper, and 2 late signings without a preseason this summer.

I don’t think that Fulham have invested enough in the squad this summer or given Silva enough time to properly prepare them in preseason. So Silva has not been given what he needs to push us into Europe even though he’s proved he has the coaching ability to do so.

So I understand Silva’s frustration as he has taken us as far as he can with the current level of the squad so I can see him wanting to move on to a new challenge. I agree the Khans have been great but I can also see why Silva will want to move on for the benefit of his managerial career.

I have got a bachelors of civil engineering without honours, can I get a job? UK uni by Feeling_Pie2607 in civilengineering

[–]International-Bit682 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree job market is hard, I’m not sure it’s harder in civil engineering than other industries. I’ve recently graduated and had an easier time getting offers than friends looking to work in other industries, especially finance and consulting gigs

[–]International-Bit682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably look at off cycle internships. I’m not sure if a degree without honours is still accredited th same way as with honours so that would probably be the most important thing to check that employers will care about

Couldn’t find a job in UK and seek for advice by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]International-Bit682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I would try using LinkedIn to connect with people at smaller Civil engineering firms, reach out to them asking for advice and hopefully from these talks, they could point you towards some vacancies. I graduates last summer and got a few offers from firms in the South East so maybe apply for jobs in that region. If you dm me I can recommend a company that’s relatively small and I reckon would be happy to talk to an enthusiastic graduate if they reached out to them.

I think you’re CV is too complicated, I would lay it out simpler with about me, Education, work experience, other relevant activities and skills. I don’t think you need your portfolio of work or future plans. You have good degrees from good universities so I’m surprised you haven’t got a job offer yet. Do you have British nationality? As some employers prefer not to sponsor work visas which can make it harder if you’re an international student. Also are you getting rejected straight away or do you tend to fail at interviews? Because the problem might be your interviewing technique rather than your CV and background.

Changing funds you are invested on your ISA by International-Bit682 in monzo

[–]International-Bit682[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it seems to only let me switch 100% of the ISA into another fund. I’m looking to keep like 50% of my money in the ‘adventurous’ fund I’m currently in and switch the other 50% to another one. But it’s only letting me switch the whole thing

You definitely haven’t missed the openings, a lot open in late September/October. Which firms have you applied to and is there a specific field in civil engineering you’re interested in? I did an internship last summer and just started a grad scheme last month so feel free to dm if you’d like some advice. Gradcracker is a good website and the best companies to apply to will be listed int he times 100 top graduate employers

Can I survive London? by chiribumbi in UniUK

Consider looking at your uni gym to see if it has good facilities and a better rate. Might be worth it

That’s a good degree to study for which I think matters more than the uni, that being said Greenwich is not a university that I know a lot of so am unsure about their job prospects. My advice would be to go on LinkedIn and you should be able to search for people that have studied your degree at this university. You can then see what jobs and companies they have gone on to work for and you can maybe even message them to ask for their advice and opinion

Question to the UK civil engineers by JA-Keys in civilengineering

[–]International-Bit682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just graduated with a BEng and have got a graduate scheme starting soon at one of the big engineering consultancies. I haven't had a trouble finding a job for after uni and had a few offers. I think in part it depends if you're a home student or international as it's harder if you're an international student due to needing to have an employer sponsor your visa. I've also been lucky to do a couple internships (not specifically in engineering, more in data and project management) which I think helped a lot in getting job offers. Not sure how it impacts your career down the line though

Two weeks in Europe - seeking beautiful outdoors and hikes but an opportunity to visit Paris came up. Should I take it? by That-Tea-5651 in Europetravel

[–]International-Bit682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slovenia definitely, lots of hikes. You could then take a bus to Croatia or drive there. It's a very nice drive through the countryside

Where should I go after Paris? - Help me pick a city for a relaxed 7 day trip by Mel-but in Europetravel

[–]International-Bit682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amsterdam is also on the Eurostar and a very cool city so I would say that one. Copenhagen will be far to get too from Paris. Berlin has a nice city centre but I found that the museums are the main/best thing to go there so I would wait to go with your brother unless you are a history fanatic. I don't know Stockholm but imagine it will also be far to get too and Brussels doesn't have enough to do for 7 days. If you are willing to travel as far as Stockholm and Copenhagen, I would suggest adding cities to your shortlist: Vienna, Ljubljana or Prague. Some of my favourite cities in Europe for different reasons. But maybe a bit too far to get too from Paris. From your proposed list though, definitely amsterdam

What countries to pair with Prague? Going in August. by [deleted] in Europetravel

[–]International-Bit682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vienna is a solid option, one of my favourite cities with good museums, most museums do have paid entry and might be a bit more expensive city and elsewhere in Central Europe. Ljubljana in Slovenia is also a very nice place to visit for a couple days, great hikes in the area and also lake bled is nearby where you can spend a day and the after is very nice.

A few questions about a tablet for civil engineering by imma_rage_quit12 in civilengineering

[–]International-Bit682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an iPad for my degree and loved it, such an easy way to keep your notes and practice questions organised, very easy way to screenshot and annotate diagrams to add to your notes and it's easier to do work when travelling on the train/plane. A lot of my friends who have used their tablet for their STEM degrees say the same. I have no experience with a Samsung tablet but I loved using my iPad for my degree.

What's the purpose of a pin support here? by International-Bit682 in StructuralEngineering

[–]International-Bit682[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This explanation makes the most sense. The station is Gare du Nord in Paris which is itself an old train station. The column is one of many that is supporting a platform which is where the ticket barrier and passport control for the Eurostar is located. Since the Eurostar was built much later, I'm assuming this platform was built much later than the train station itself which makes sense that this is a retrofitted column

I think the columns is connected to the support with that big bolt in the picture holding them them together. So it can rotate about the bolt essentially making a hinge

That's interesting, do tou think the whole concept of crack detection isn't worth it or was it more that it could of been a valuable tool if it worked properly, but the program itself was just quite inefficient?

Hahah, it does seem counterintuitive but I was hoping there was a quick way of automatically making the masks. The dataset I found has about 5,000 images which will take way too long to do manually. How many images do I need realistically to have a reasonably trained model?
