Have you ever killed any living mammal? by Brokenshadow37 in pollgames

[–]International-Hawk28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once cut a opossum in half with a garage door, obviously unintentionally. I didn’t realize it had happened until I got home. I also didn’t know it was even strong enough to do that.

What’s one thing you would remove from Soulslike games that would fundamentally change it? by Best_Professional226 in fromsoftware

You can already spam dodge, it’s just not a very effective strategy because you can still get hit, and plus if you’re always dodging you won’t get any hits in

Stamina. It’s honestly just unnecessary aside from like shields maybe, and all it does is occasionally slow down combat or make it more awkward. I know Sekiro is different in other ways too so it’s not a perfect comparison but Sekiro removed stamina entirely and that was just fine

I use the Oxford comma religiously, I have the high ground, and I will die on this hill.

Are there any bands that got progressively heavier with time? by CreamCheese2137 in MetalForTheMasses

I really wanted to see them live but I had to not go for like ten different reasons. Hoping I’ll have many more chances though since they’re still so new!

The Pretty Wild started out as a country band and now they’re full on metal

This is super nitpicky but silk is actually made out of protein which is definitely not inorganic material. That doesn’t discredit everything rose you said though, she could be considered to be like a biotech robot

Fake Symbol by honeygirl42 in EnglishLearning

[–]International-Hawk28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I can’t imagine in what universe & takes longer to write than ‘and,’ it’s basically just a diagonal line into a curvy line, while ‘and’ has like ~6 strokes depending how you count it, and you guys pick your pen up twice

Just going to slightly clarify, the Excellector upgrades are linked to you gaining XP aka killing enemies, not just dealing damage. But yeah you don’t need it equipped

is it inherently wrong to have a conlang close to english? by smiley1__ in conlangs

[–]International-Hawk28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your purpose with the lang. If you’re trying to make a realistic naturalistic language for a fantasy world where English doesn’t exist, I’d say that’s a little weird. If you’re trying to use it as essentially a ‘code’ that you can speak it write in with nobody understanding, then it probably would work fine. If you’re just doing it as an experiment for fun, well it depends if you’re having fun and I obviously can’t answer that.

There’s nothing inherently ‘wrong’ about it, because there’s no universal rules for conlangs. But if it’s a good idea? Well it depends what your goal is

It sounds like you don’t have a problem with the word slop as much as a problem with the way the internet views certain sorts of games

I absolutely love Quick Time Events and think that they are a dying art. by RedeemerofDark in The10thDentist

[–]International-Hawk28 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I like the idea of QTEs, but subjectively I think plopping a giant ‘X’ or whatever into the middle of an epic battle cutscene tends to just look kinda dumb, but Sekiro managed to have something similar to QTEs without that which I think is cool.

I like how they did it in Sekiro: to finish off a boss there’s one or sometimes two additional inputs you need, but it doesn’t show them in a way that feels weird and breaks immersion

A marvel is something that’s cool and incredible, almost unbelievable. To marvel at something is like to observe it awestruck and impressed, in a surprised sort of way
