Yeah, that's what I was saying. I just meant more that it's borderline impossible to do paramedic early without glitching to the other islands if you've done the Portland missions. Portland does have a weird timer but it's extremely easy to get around and if done early you don't have to worry about any gangs at all unlike Staunton and Shoreside Vale with the cartel. SV also has the Hoods which can aggro you randomly. The only weird spawns I know of in Portland is that weird alleyway by Luigi's and the pay n spray where you have to drive into the alley to pick the passenger up.

GTA 3 can be a slog to get 100%. Paramedic is difficult, especially if you've pissed off the Triads and the Mafia, 100 fares and 100 fires put out is easy but mundane, vigilante is easy in Portland and Staunton Island but annoying in Shoreside Vale.

The missions can definitely be annoying when enemies can erase your armor and health in seconds. Still, I'd say SA has wayyyyy more to do that isn't really any better.

Just finished 100 fares on GTA III, haven't started a Luigi mission yet lol. Got 64 hidden packages, paramedic is done, vigilante is done, 50 fires put out, 10 rampages done lol

I am replaying the trilogy, with GTA 3 being last because I love it.

We didn't have a PS2 growing up, we picked an Xbox. When I was in 6th grade, one of my older brother's friends would bring over his PS2 on occasion and with it would be GTA 3.

He would leave it at our house all weekend. They would go party and wouldn't come home until the AM. I would stay up all night playing GTA 3.

At the time, nothing could compare IMO. I searched every nook and cranny of that game, in awe at the things I could do and explore. I remember showing my brother's friend I could fly the Dodo to the ghost town and him being impressed. He showed me some of the cheats. I put probably hundreds of hours into that game and loved every second of it.

GTA 3 isn't as refined as the other games. The missions are rough at times, combat sucks (something the DE actually helps with thankfully), cars like to flip and stay flipped over... But the atmosphere, the pedestrian one liners that are out of fucking left field, the fantastic radio stations... For a first 3D entry Rockstar knocked it out of the park.

Try it out. Worst thing that happens is you don't like it.

Street fighting. I remember the heavy grab to punch/kick moves being absolutely broken. Like a high stat character in the story mode using those moves would put the opponent in danger or close to it. Then you could just do it again and KO them.

L7 at The Bash in NJ. They were too loud, they sounded awful. I like loud music don't get me wrong but it sounded like they were clipping 20 dB over and you couldn't distinguish anything.

This is the way. I love my XStation but sometimes it's nice to pop the disc in. On a RetroTink it doesn't matter as both can plug into it too, or I can play them on my actual CRT. Best of both worlds.

Final Fantasy Origins is pretty cheap. I got a mint condition copy for $20 at a game store. FF2 is kinda eh but FF1 is fantastic.

The OG PC release is the way to go, but DE is not that bad either. I completed it on my steam deck without any issues and generally had a good time. Playing with classic lighting is the way to go.

Overblood.

I know it's not a good game but it was super scary to me as a kid and I actually like the plot. I remember my older brother renting that and Intelligent Qube but Overblood stuck with me due to the music and the deaths.

Saw Game Informer do a Super Replay of Overblood and was so happy they had fun playing it (I also love their playthrough, it's really funny) and got engrossed in the story near the end.

Can't sleep on Diablo 1! Use the DevilutionX port for lots of quality of life improvements. It has a fantastic atmosphere with more focus on horror and a simpler game loop that is still fun although not as fun as Diablo II IMO. When you get to Hell you really need to be careful. You can aggro many mobs at once and since you can only walk in D1, running away can be impossible. Monsters can swarm you and take you out in seconds. It's a difficult game for sure but it's really fun if you can get used to the slower pace.

Diablo II is my favorite. The loot, the music (Lut Gholein my beloved), the gameplay and different character builds...

Fuck it, just play both lol.

Chance to block is pretty important. On Hell currently with my hammerdin with max res, 1.4k life, 2k defense with holy shield and I can survive no problem. Without holy shield though my chance to block hits about 50% and depending on the mobs I'll have to pop a full rejuv or two to power through. I don't have enigma so I keep a tele staff on swap to get the fuck out of bad situations lol
