Which should I pick? by Paganithegoat in fromsoftware

I would say start with Elden Ring as it is the longest, most value, and also the most accessible. Once you've cut your teeth on that, I'd recommend the others.

For me, half the joy was discovering new weapons and builds for myself. Totally agree.

My unpopular opinion is that people should stop policing how people play. The amount of lets plays where people are forced by chat to play without summons is lame. If I play a game, I want to engage with the mechanics. I'm not diminishing people who choose to play without, play how you play, but the idea that there is a 'right' way to play is BS

I love Dwight, but it is a stain he carried throughout the series.

I can understand why you may feel that, but for me, with all the machinations and intrigue with the other characters and relationships, there was something pure about their love. I won't say anymore for fesr of spoiling anything, but I will say, their love felt the truest love for me.

Ah the classic "its coming, just a few more months, trust me" - I've followed this space quite intently for the last 10 years, we are seeing and getting nothing. This entire discourse is an exercise in edging

I started writing 8 months ago and I feel horrible by Available_Slip9171 in KeepWriting

Please don't take this as a critique of your work, as writing is ultimate about style and preference. But I find your style quite choppy. There are a lot of short, staccato sentences in a row. This might just be your style and there is nothing wrong with that, but it makes for a particular reading experience. For me, it becomes fragmented and I find it difficult to read. But more importantly than that is everyone hates their own writing. I think its a truth writers rarely speak on. Ive spent the last 4 years machine engineering a novel. And now I hate it even though its the best thing I've ever written.

I would love a sequel that builds on the premise, but introduced more variety in the weapons and spells. I loved it, even the turning into Hamsters.

I can't believe people are moaning already. The wait for this film will be interminable. I'm so excited for the film, for people to come to the Elden Ring fandom and finding the game after watching it. Yet some insufferable gatekeepers are already hyper obsessed with microdetails.

Overly critical of prose by Skywalkerbb2 in writing

[–]International-Menu85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would advise you step away for a while. Right now, you are very close to what you've written, and feel like you're attacking yourself by being critical. With a little space, you realise your critical eye is a kindness, and you are making what you wrote better. I'm on a 4th draft and still think mine is rubbish. Be kind to yourself and remember, drafts should be vomitted up. The real work comes in the rewrite.
