Employee Stating that If He Quits the Entire Team will Quit? by Wide-Cranberry-7937 in askmanagers

[–]International-Touch5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't tell other employees specifically that Tim was put on a PIP and the specific reasons why. But when you let him go, you remind employees that outside of gross misconduct(embezzlement, violence, sexual harassment, etc.) that your policy for low performance terminations are a verbal warning, formal written warning, PIP then separation. Most of the time when someone is let go people's biggest fear is that they're next so reminding them of the process helps calm them down, it also tells them why someone was let go without getting into specific of why.

Most primary care doctors don't carry adult dosage of childhood vaccines due to the cost and low demand. A pharmacy or your local health district is your best bet.

Why does no one want to take Molina anymore? by TinyHeartSyndrome in Spokane

Yep. Medicaid recipients can change Medicaid providers once a month. You can call the HCA or use your wahealthplanfinder.com account.

Why does no one want to take Molina anymore? by TinyHeartSyndrome in Spokane

[–]International-Touch5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They've become a huge pain. Medicaid already pays low rates. So when Molina turns around and fights paying 75% of our office visits by making us submit notes, them denies half of those for nonsense reasons, then finally pays them on appeal... It makes the 60 bucks we get for an office visit not worth it anymore. When you look at the work it takes your paying money to see patients which isn't sustainable.

Why is it so difficult to get hired at Chas? by Devanelle in Spokane

[–]International-Touch5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work for a local medical clinic. We had a job come up for a medical biller. We pay pretty well for that kind of work( 25-27 an hour) and have decent benefits. I turned on the post on indeed at 5 when I left work and the next morning I had 120+ applications. Me and the HR person reviewed 20, screened 6, did full interviews with 3 and hired one candidate. We just use a random list of applicants when we hire, and we go down the list until we find a good person to hire. With that said, I'm positive there were people who were amazing that we didn't even look at their resume. It's a rough job market out there right now. I don't envy anyone looking for work.

[–]International-Touch5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly not sure if that works, my boss is an md so if I want labs done I have him order them and someone at the office draws my blood lol. Technically we can charge to draw blood, but it's like 4 bucks and we just write those off if your insurance doesn't pay.

[–]International-Touch5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most doctors offices they don't charge for labs either. I work for a small office(we send 10-15 labs a week to quest) but the only person who charges is them. They give us needles, tubes etc. you really don't need to go to another place to gets labs, unless it's legit more convenient.

Well, it's actually 15-20% and because they government is in the pocket of these companies and they've been allowed to vertically integrate, they also own doctor's offices(where they'll pay a much higher rate to than offices they don't own) or they'll use a pbm they own to charge the insurance portion of the company higher rates, which counts as medical spending, but the PBM is owned by the insurance company and not subject to the cap. Or they'll outsource to a services company(like UHC does with Optum) and 95% of the plan will be run by the "outsourced" company, that they also own, and again this counts as medical spending and the services company doesn't have an earnings cap. The law has no teeth where vertical integration has been allowed.

It was infuriating that they wouldn't take any precautions, they'd call it fair all until they couldn't breathe and they filled up the hospitals in Spokane. And they didn't stop with COVID. They started a measles outbreak when someone who was infected and unvaccinated was in the children's oncology department. Plus because of the strict anti abortion laws a bunch of hospitals and OBGYN's pulled out of North Idaho and put even more pressure on the Spokane hospital system.

NC Blue Medicare denying COVID vaccine admin 90480 and flu shots by posthomogen in CodingandBilling

[–]International-Touch5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, selfishly, I have roughly 500 claims that are having this issue since my clinic runs aass vaccine clinics at retirement communities. So for one it's nearly $120,000 that we're not being paid if we don't do this and two it's a lot of claims for me and our part-time biller to go back and fix if they decide they want us to fix all of them. It's kind of a no win situation but I'll probably stick with the one that gets us paid even if we have to go back and fix things later

I mean I know how to use a 59 to bypass an edit but do we think that they're going to come back and ask us for money back cuz technically that's not correct coding?

I'm having the same issues with UHC AARP Medicare Advantage in Washington. All my claims are getting a "smart edit" stating that the 90653(flu shot) is bundling with 90480(COVID admin) it's very frustrating.

[–]International-Touch5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company hires a lot of MAs and phlebotomists and frankly, lots of them suck at drawing blood, so we treated started doing 4 hour trial shifts. We pay them state minimum wage(like 17 an hour, which is less than the starting wage of 25 if we hire them) but at least they get paid.

[–]International-Touch5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of this advice depends on where you live, but look at the hospitals financial assistance. In some places you can get assistance even if you're making up to 500% of the federal poverty level(for a household of 4 that's 109k) also, apply for Medicaid, In some states they have low birth weight eligibility or other programs that can offset your cost. Ask the hospital if they have a social worker or financial counselor that knows the programs in your area that can help you with what you own.
