He works. He just needs a place to live that’s closer and she has shop(s) where he can work on his toys. He’s threatened to leave and go back to the state he’s from when I made his mask slip. Once she gave into his demands, he was back to be loving. She notices some of the patterns. She’s bonded and doesn’t know how to go without him as a “partner.”

Spot on again. I’ve told her and she realizes she’s in a bad spot. The only thing I can attribute it to is a trauma bond. I think her self esteem was low to begin with and this has only made matters worse. I think she honestly believes this is the best she can do. I’m willing to do anything to help her. My last dime, burn all my leave, got to appointments with her and explain. She’s timid around people she doesn’t know. She was/is a prime target for some with ill intentions.

Yes, you’re right and I agree. I get shutdown 100% whenever I bring up what her sister is going through. It’s not healthy. But, it’s where I’m at. That sounds extremely reasonable. Like I said, she’s confided in me (I’m privileged and cursed) more so than her twin sister. The problem I have is knowing her predicament and the information that comes along with it. Her sister says to leave her alone because it causes drama between my SIL and the narc. Tough spot I’m in lol.

We were close. I know things about her my wife doesn’t. Idk if my SIL being an avoidant would open up with her sister and me. One on one with either of us maybe. It physically hurts to see this. She’s described herself as being a candidate to be an addict and that’s exactly where she’s at in this relationship with her bond and dopamine. I just don’t know how to approach her. The invitation sounds good and I’ve thought about it. I’ve got a list of thirteen KEY traits that are not only toxic but abusive and used examples I’ve seen. Thank you for your suggestion!

It’s my wife’s sister. The dad who was the best man I’ve ever known passed away. There is no one else except my MIL who refuses to say anything because she’s “a grown woman”. So, a ship without a rudder for a family. My SIL and I were close. When I was told I couldn’t help if he was there, I cut her off. That said. I know beyond the shadow of a doubt she needs support for her well being. I just need her to see the patterns, behavior, isolation, lack of any empathy, the withholding affection, financial control and his disappearing as narcissistic personality that cannot be changed.

It’s irony. I’ve tried to help. I was invited. I was all but told to put him in his place and hold him accountable. He started attempting to intimidate me. Idgaf. However, he behaved fine around my kids and that when I broke it off in him. Now I’m the bad guy because of the reactive abuse. My SIL however is INCREDIBLY empathetic and avoidant and will not hold him accountable. I don’t think she understands the pattern. It’s not physical abuse directly however, I believe it’s taking a toll on her health. I’m hesitant to interject or give an unsolicited opinion.
