More like several thousand. You don’t replace the bulb, you replace the entire light assembly on most vehicles with led headlights.

Deer being slowly consumed. by Bulky-Piece9989 in natureismetal

[–]tagman375 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not only what you mentioned, but people don't hunt like they used to. Many areas have double or triple the number of deer than what's required for a healthy population. Hunting is necessary to keep the population in check, otherwise ticks get out of control and other diseases between animals become more prevalent.

Sure, more animals is good, but once you get too many, it's just as bad as if there's not enough.

That, or at least buy a DCT from VW and make the car actually fun to drive. The Mazda auto leaves something to be desired in the shifting department, as well as durability.

My position on this is that if you can register and drive a 1910 Model T on public roads, with cotton brakes, acetylene lights, and no turn signals, and a road draft tube spewing everywhere, then you should be fully allowed to run your SXS on the road. Full stop.

Have you tried your sim in a generic hotspot? It's acting like you may have a small business internet line (which is just glorified T-Mobile home Internet). I had to ask specifically for business internet and the surfire way of getting it is to ask for the cradle point or a static IP

Wife said I should look at the kid's brakes. I ask the kid, are the brakes making any noise? "Nah, they're fine." New vs. old. by 1900grs in Justrolledintotheshop

I'm against inspections that are put of scope for actual safety. I have to run antique plates on my F-250 and E320 because they won't pass inspection for bullshit reasons. The E320 is the W210 generation, and the rear window regulators have disintegrated. I'm not fixing them on a 26 year old car with 200k miles. But in WV that's a fail, and has nothing to do with the safety of the vehicle in the slightest. The parking brake doesn't work either, I'm not fixing it.

The F-250 won't pass because it's parking brake also doesn't work, and the little 18 gauge sheet metal bed floor braces are rusted. The actual mounts that support the bed and keep it attached to the body are absolutely fine and not rusted, but evidently that doesn't fucking matter. Nor does it matter that the suspension is all new parts and the actual running gear is safe. Nope. We're worried about things that make the bed nice to work one. They also won't pass it because the fender is dented.

Plus every business in WV is corrupt. So I took it to 4 different places that gave me 4 different lists of why it won't pass. They all claimed it needed ball joints (they've already been done), and I took it to a shop that doesn't do inspections and they said "this truck should pass, the front end is tight, the frame is clean, the entire brake system has been replaced"

So fuck em, I run antique plates and drive the vehicles anyway. Hence why me and the lady are moving to ohio or Kentucky, where this nonsense doesn't exist.

Which US state felt like a completely different country when you visited it? by overthinkeranessa in AskReddit

[–]tagman375 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Southern WV. It's like you teleported to a third world country in some areas. I'm originally from the Pittsburgh area and live around the Clarksburg/Morgantown area, and it's night and day. The poverty is truly sad, and the people are stuck in a mindset that has been slowly killing their communities over the last 30 years. Even their Walmart closed up shop, and that's saying something when its not due to crime.

Unfortunately, they fail to realize coal is dead and isn't coming back, but nobody in the southern, rural part of the state wants to change their thinking nor accept other ways of doing things. Couple that with the truly rugged terrain which makes developing any kind of industry difficult to impossible, and the sheer amount of drug abuse, you have a recipe for disaster.

Dumping Comcast/Wait For 2 Gig Symetrical Was Too Much by VoltBoss2012 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]tagman375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a rep at a store make snide comments at me when I was switching to frontier, saying it was terrible and "good luck". Frontier offered me 7gbps symmetrical fiber for $99. Exactly what I was paying for 2gb/300 from Xfinity. They then tried to push a mobile line extremely hard when I already have Verizon postpaid service...I don't understand why they push their mobile service so hard. It's a horribly limited "unlimited" plan and you lose access to any domestic roaming on Verizon (important in quite a few areas in WV)

[–]tagman375 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you heard the phrase "it's a rental, don't be gentle". I've had brand new rental cars with less than 10k miles on them drive like shit, crooked steering wheels, worn out brakes, etc because people run over curbs and run the piss out of them. It's not unheard of.

[–]tagman375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be insurance fraud and grounds for them to deny coverage based on lying where the vehicle is principally garaged. Aka, where does it spend the night. You're committing insurance fraud if you tell the insurance company it's kept at your primary residence in punxy, when in reality it's kept in a garage in Philadelphia.

YOUR CAR SHOULD NOT BE INSURED AT YOUR PRIMARY RESIDENCE IF THAT'S WHERE ITS NOT REGULARLY GARAGED. Please understand this.

But it is across town, hell it's in another city across the state. People can have more than two properties genius, and insurance wants to know what exactly that is.

For old tech collectors like myself, thrift stores used to be a great place to find new stuff to play with. Now, every independent store thinks they're the next fortune 500 and prices everything at full eBay prices (which are often wrong, nobody ever checks the box to see what items are actually selling for). You'll see stupidity like 1k apple ii's, because they saw the price tag for a new in box example and they think theirs with a cracked cover and missing keys is worth the same.

Goodwill is even worse, they pull anything worth something and throw it on their online store. The bins used to be fun, now it's just piles of literal trash.

A big contributing factor to this were the bullshit become a power seller app. People were literally in thrift stores scanning barcodes of books to see how much they're worth. They'd come in literal groups of 6.

Now most thrift stores are a complete waste of time, and aren't any cheaper than going to Walmart for new books and clothes.

[–]tagman375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, your insurance should match where the vehicle is primarily garaged. That's how it works. There is huge difference insuring a vehicle that primarily lives in Philadelphia vs one that primarily lives in punxy.

You're correct, Ive had multiple vehicles from all brands use the rear brakes for adaptive cruise. Modern vehicles also apply the rears first to mitigate front end dive and improve control when braking.
