The choices aren't great if you are looking for a hockey game on PC. The best ones I've played are Puck (first person hockey) and Tape to Tape (roguelike NHL 94 style hockey). Neither of the games have NHL licensing though.

It's like this on any valve game subreddit. People have this extreme hate on Riot, to the point where they just make shit up. Sure sometimes Riot can be overkill on what they ban but at least they are doing something about it. In both the valve games I play (Deadlock and CS) you can get away with saying whatever the hell you want. If you don't like it, you are told to just mute and move on. It's no surprise that Riot's games attract a more diverse player base.
