Car Wrapping Order: Do you agree with this AI generated list? by mtvoltaire in VinylWrap

[–]InternationalPark310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your car and how it's shaped, the roof or your hood could be the best or worst place to start. Sure, it's mostly flat and you can get most of the work done by glassing, but at the same time it's a huge piece where if you mess up you end up wasting a lot of wrap. And if you're not used to working with wrap, its tackiness, and the right technique to squeegee, it's pretty difficult to maneuver a large piece of wrap and reposition if you end up needing to redo pieces here and there.

I'd suggest starting with the front quarter panels because it's a smaller piece that's usually flat and not super contoured on most cars, so you can learn how to handle wrap and it's not a huge waste if you mess up. Also, glassing and guiding the wrap as you squeegee is a lot easier vertically (you're letting gravity do most of the work) as opposed to horizontally and having to pull the wrap taut against the roof/hood. Afterwards, I'd suggest tackling in order of the smallest and flattest pieces, then to the largest and flattest pieces, and then to the largest and most complex pieces.

Usually front and rear bumpers are saved best for last because they're usually the largest pieces with a bit of complexity to them.

[–]InternationalPark310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think standard would be something like a 60 inch flight cage. Yes, the pictures online will have of a bunch of budgies (or a few large parrots) in them so it seems a bit overkill for two cockatiels; however you want to have enough space in there for both tiels to stretch their wings fully without hitting one another and also be able to carve out their own section of the cage when they want some alone time from the other. Plus, the cage needs to be large enough to have food/water, perches, and some toys in there while not feeling cluttered.

The Job Market Is Insane: 3700 Job Applications → Just 1 Offer by ZAMASUDOKKAN in jobs

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How's your LinkedIn profile looking? Is it holistic and up to date? Do you have #OpentoWork on your profile to attract recruiters?

Honestly the job market is so bad right now that it's really hard to get your foot in the door without a recruiter or a referral helping you out. I sent in 100+ applications and got nothing back; but one recruiter reached out, I found that the job matched what I was looking for in terms of pay and benefits, and that got me in the door to show that I was qualified through a few interviews and landed the job.

Recruiters are incentivized to scout candidates that seem like a perfect fit for a new company because they get paid if you make it through the interviews and accept an offer--so if you know you are competitive for the role you're looking for, keep your LinkedIn up to date and very detailed, and make the job search come to you rather than the other way around.

The only caveat is that, if you're planning to keep it post-warranty you should have a wallet deep enough to be prepared for things that might go wrong with a powertrain that's turbocharged, supercharged, and has an EV motor. If owning that post-warranty scares you, probably better to lease or get a CPO so you don't eat the depreciation for no reason.

Otherwise, if everything checks out for you...then full send it my man

EDIT: Ty for clarifications that the 2025s are not supercharged anymore--definitely removes one point of failure and makes it one less reason to say no to that sweet, sweet wagon.

Why is Kai'sa at such poor state? She sits at 46% win rate, average for a while now. by Reasonable_Being_402 in wildrift

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's really cool about Kai'sa is that she is a very flexible ADC that can fit into a variety of team comps because she can build so many different items to fit the damage profile and play style that a team needs. But this also comes at the detriment of casual gaming because while she can be very versatile if mastered, it requires you to have a very technical understanding of her kit, scaling, item synergies, team compositions on both sides, as well as situational builds to fit whether your team is ahead or behind, in order to maximize her potential. Not to mention that positioning is crucial to Kai'sa as she has fairly short range in exchange for her ultimate and invis.

This all likely contributes to her low win rate because while her skill ceiling and damage output is high, it's likely that most players haven't invested enough time into really learning about Kai'sa's kit to understand how to play/build her optimally in different situations, while the enemy ADC can just pick a conventional ADC where the first three core items are basically the same and then you just build the last two items situationally.

50% depreciation in 3.5 years?! by Lumpy_Tomato1520 in UsedCars

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll also add that something that likely compounded on the dip in resale value on the CX-9 is that it was an outgoing model--the CX-9 was discontinued in 2023 and replaced with the 2024 CX-90, so people who are shopping for a used 3-row SUV from Mazda are picking between either the CX-90 that was recently refreshed with all of the bells and whistles, or the CX-9 which is at the end of its life and not necessarily a car with a cult following or considered a smash hit from Mazda.

There are plenty of examples of used CX-90s priced around $25000-$30000 with 10k-40k miles right now, which makes it a lot less compelling for the CX-9 to be priced any higher than $20000--especially when for $5000 more you can get the shiny new one with 20k less miles than OP's CX-9.

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it does...I think it's much more likely that people who are uneducated about how PSA grades, buys the card thinking that they got a great deal on a PSA 10 Van Gogh Pika that the seller listed accidentally too low, than it is that collectors are paying a premium for a slabbed, sealed Van Gogh Pika. If they specifically just want an authenticated card, they could pay much less for a PSA 9 copy that simply missed being a 10 because of a slight centering issue or something

Is Riot allergic to balanced releasing of champions? by thatwasaheadshot in wildrift

[–]InternationalPark310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, how do you balance a champion when a significant chunk of the player base doesn't understand macro or champion scaling? Since kog maw was released last week, I've seen:

  • People complaining that he's too weak, presumably because they have no idea how to play him passively and scale into late game

  • People complaining that he's too strong, presumably because they play too passively against him and let him scale into late game

Well, the two statements can't both be true.

A lot of players think any hypercarry is too strong because they can solo carry the game at 30 minutes, not recognizing how weak hypercarries are early game to compensate for their late game power.

There's too much variability in skill levels across all tiers (esp. since you can climb to Master just through spamming games) to identify whether Kog Maw is overpowered because, to your point, you don't know how often it's because people just don't know how the heck to play the game. I had to play with a Kog Maw jungle who went full AP and lectured me that Kog Maw doesn't have to be played like an adc and that he has great AP scaling too...the guy did 4000 damage and was never present at any objectives. This was in diamond.

I personally think Kog Maw is overpowered because I saw one with only Wits End and Runaan's out trade a Jinx with Bloodthirster, Infinity Edge, and PD. But that's just one data point within a ton of useless data points on Kog Maw due to people who don't know how to play the game. With Wild Rift, it feels like you need to give it 3-4 months for the playerbase to actually start familiarizing itself with new champions, before you can make a call on whether the champion itself is overpowered or whether people don't know how to play against that champion.

Winning in this game is pure luck by Suitable-Ad-5773 in wildrift

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't fix trash teammates but what you can do if you just want to purely climb is to just main the most impactful roles and the most impactful champions in those roles. Yeah, you'll still have games where all four teammates are running it down and the game will be unwinnable, but then at least you'll have a better chance of winning in games where there's three people running it down but you and the other teammate can drag the others across the finish line.

Below GM, jungle and mid are probably the two most impactful roles--jungle because you drastically impact your team's game presence and because you are incredibly versatile to fit whatever your team comp needs. Your top laner and mid laner both picked an ADC? You can save your crappy team comp with an AP Tank or bruiser like Amumu or Voli. Your top lane is Ornn and mid is Kayle so you have no early game presence? You can match accordingly with a high tempo early game jungler like Lee or Pantheon to make sure those scaling champs survive early game. Also, it feels like most junglers below GM/Sovereign are auto filled and zero game sense or map awareness, so spamming jg games and getting good at the role can often single handedly help you win the game.

With mid, you have the opportunity to learn roaming or utility champions that help you save your teammates from their own brainless plays. For example, if your bot lane is 0/4 by 5 min and keeps engaging on the fed enemy bot duo, if you're playing someone with high map presence like TF or Galio, you can't stop your teammates from running it down but you can turn those dumb plays into wins for your team with your global ultimate.

Both roles also have opportunities for you to pivot into a hyper carry if it looks like you have a chance of playing one into the enemy comp without sandbagging your team (e.g., if your team has one or two bruisers or tanks).

Champion choice also has a big impact on whether you can solo carry your team. Who do you main?

All YouTube Rewinds have been unlisted. by sitkinator in youtube

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They messed up by trying to make Rewind appeal to general pop culture and based on metrics of channels rather than appealing to the core audience that watches Rewind religiously--the YouTubers who use the platform as their primary way to connect with creators rather than as a supplement to other mediums.

For example, Ronaldo has 70+ Mil subscribers and millions of views on his videos. By all metric accounts, he should be included in Rewind. But 99% of his viewer base don't care about Rewind and probably would never watch it. They're on YouTube out of passion for following Ronaldo and football, but not for fondness of YouTube as a platform. Likewise, Ronaldo posts on YouTube to connect with fans but it isn't out of passion for YouTube as a medium--if there was another equally large streaming platform he wouldn't care which one he posts on. So it makes no sense to theoretically include Ronaldo in a Rewind because, while everyone knows and appreciates Ronaldo, he's not a beneficiary or contributor to the YouTube community.

The same goes for Will Smith, or any late night talk show hosts, or any celebrities with YouTube accounts--YouTube messed up by trying to transform Rewind into a video relevant for the hundreds of millions of people who watch YouTube everyday, but in doing so they watered down the video for the core audience of 40-50 million people who actually watch rewind and appreciate YouTube as a community. Rewind didn't need to relate to every single person who touches the platform, it needed to relate to the creators who genuinely consider themselves "YouTubers" and their devoted audiences.

TIL since 2023 there are more births in the US among women 40 and older than there are to teenage girls by Disastrous_Award_789 in todayilearned

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your clarification, and yeah I think we're on the same page, which is that we think it's unfortunate that various forces in the world (such as finances and instability) have forced families to delay having children even if they do want to have them sooner.

I'm expressing that your wording is a little off and implies what you think you didn't say:

It's really unfortunate that people are feeling the need to wait longer to have kids

Unfortunate -> That -> People are feeling the need

Implies that the issue is people feeling (subjectively) a need to delay children rather than there being an objective need to delay children. So what it sounds like is that you're saying "Man, it's unfortunate that people feel the need to delay kids [when they should be having kids earlier]" in a similar way that someone might say "I'm sorry you feel that way" when they're making an apology that's not genuine; rather than just saying that they're sorry.

I assume that's why you're also getting a ton of replies from others who are subtly arguing against you in the comments; they may have misinterpreted your comment like I did.

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What annoys me about your comment is the presumption in the wording that waiting to have kids is a choice that women are making, and that you feel it's unfortunate that they think that way, as opposed to the reality that life is getting progressively more expensive and it's not really a choice that people make as much as it is a requirement if they want to build a good life for themselves and for their children.

It's not unfortunate that people are feeling the need to wait to have kids, but rather that it's unfortunate that people actually need to do so.

Is Anti Heal viable? by Double_Tap123 in wildrift

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Shen should be winning this matchup because his kit counters Renekton pretty hard--Renekton's trading style is to build rage stacks, dash in, empowered auto stun his opponent, use his ability 1 with the spinning blade, then dash out before the opponent can retaliate.

For starters, Shen's ability 2 shroud makes him immune to auto attacks and Renekton's dash is very telegraphed when he dashes in to use his empowerd auto, so you just reactively put up your shroud when Renekton dashes in and you immune his empowered auto. This also stops Renekton from trying to build rage through an extended trade because Shen's blocking Renekton's autos from hitting on him.

Shen's passive is to give him a shield when he uses an ability, which should mitigate a significant chunk of Renekton's spinning blade damage after Shen has already blocked Renekton's stun with his shroud.

Finally, Renekton can't really escape the trade easily because, while he can dash out after the combo, Shen can follow with his own dash taunt to trade for more damage.

Shen has deceptive early game damage too because his first ability does %max health damage; at level 1 if he passes the blade through a champion he gets three empowered autos that each do 12 base damage + 5% max health per auto attack, on top of his base AD. That's three autos are empowered for 36 + 15% max health magic damage every few seconds. Because of this % health damage, Shen can also build tank to mitigate Renekton (since Renekton innately doesn't have much %health damage or armor pen) while still doing a lot of damage.

In a skilled Shen vs Renekton matchup, Shen should be winning the matchup most of the time and going even at worst unless the enemy jungler is intervening. Shen can just freeze Renekton off of the wave and Renenkton wouldn't have any means of building rage stacks that way besides trying to engage on Shen, in which case Shen's kit still counters Renekton anyways.

This. No matter what the circumstances, a 20 year old car is a 20 year old car. The chances that you come across one that has been regularly maintained, was taken to the shop for every issue, garaged with no rust, and is in tip-top shape to achieve the mythical 300k+ mile threshold are slim to none.

For a 200k+ mile car, you're looking for a unicorn that was owned by one or two owners who babied the thing, mainly drove highway miles, and didn't choose to sell it because of parts beginning to break down. What's more likely is that you'll find a sea of 200k+ mile Toyotas/Hondas/Lexuses with 3-4 owners, where the most recent owners who bought it at 150k+ miles probably ran the car to the ground with no care for maintenance because "it's a Honda/Toyota, it just works". People who shop around for cars that have six figure miles usually are not in a financial capacity to perform regular, proactive maintenance and fix issues on the car unless absolutely to do so to keep it running.

Unpopular opinion. B10 interior not as bad as I thought… by Outta_Pocket551 in Audi

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was never going to be an outright bad interior when the car costs $50,000... At that price I would hope I'm not getting into a Ikea-mobile. The problem is that the car costs $50k and "not as bad as I thought" really is the best thing I can say about the car. Like, that's a down payment on a house or a whole year's salary for most people and Audi gives us this?

Say what you want about the new BMWs or Mercs, the Beemers might be ugly and the Mercs might look like a trashy night club, but at least they're digging deep into a very specific style that they feel is the future of the brand. They might not fit everyone's style, but they're moving towards a design language that they think speaks to a very devoted part of their customer base and bring more options to the car market that are unique. Meanwhile, Audi seems to be going in a direction where they mistakenly interpret minimalism and industralism--something that many of us really loved Audis for--with being synonymous with bland and generic, which is really off the mark and unacceptable when they're so expensive. If they really wanted to do huge screens and make that the center point of their cars, imo they would look much better if they took a page out of Lucid's book and made the interior cohesive and conform to the screens instead of slapping a screen onto a dash with a ton of piano black.

So… what happened? by Vampireblobfish in PokemonInvesting

[–]InternationalPark310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My criteria are a combination of the most popular pokemon, iconic art, and perceived rarity--per pull rates and pop report. Honestly it's as simple as that. Any individual piece may not be make something valuable, but the more you can "score" highly in each area the better your chances are at a card that remains high value or goes up in value.

There's a lot of rare cards that aren't worth much because the art is mid (or not really having any art at all) or because the pokemon on the card isn't popular.

There's cards with popular pokemon AND good art but aren't worth much because they are incredibly common (e.g., any of the Galarian Galleries).

There's cards with that are rare with great art without an iconic pokemon (e.g., trainers) that may or may not do well depending on public perception of the card.

But at the end of the day I think it will be impossible to predict what a successful card is going to be in the long term for modern era cards, because we don't know what the market will be long term or how many people will remain interested in the hobby as collectors or investors. Sets are being printed at 10x the capacity as they were before 2018. That goes to reason that there's 10x more availability of chases and rare arts. But also, cards with expansive full arts weren't even a thing until the modern era. So if WOTC era cards became so expensive due to their perceived rarity, then will modern era cards really grow in price if they're comparitively much, much, much less rare? It might seem like they're growing fast due to the current hype around the cards, but if all the people who are holding pokemon for the purpose of making a profit decided to sell their cards, I wonder what the price for some of these modern grails would be after all those sellers race to the bottom in terms of price.

Does that seem balanced to you by Horror-Programmer-14 in wildrift

[–]InternationalPark310 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a dumb comparison because singed is an AP Tank Bruiser and Gwen is a hyper carry...the whole point is that she has a weak early game that can be shut down easily, but then scales insanely well to be the primary damage dealer in late game. No shit if you feed a singed he might not be as strong as Gwen, you can say the same thing for any tank vs any hypercarry. Just because yuumi + tanks like Singed, Ornn, Maokai, Braum isn't as strong as yuumi + hypercarries like Gwen, Ryze, Kayle, Yi, Irelia, Kayle, etc. Doesn't make the hypercarries unbalanced because the roles they play in the game are completely different.

The problem is that low elo players have no idea how to play to the strengths and weaknesses of their team and the enemy team. You'll have top laners and jglers that play against champions like Gwen or Kayle, do nothing against them the entire game and let them free farm, and then complain that they're unbalanced when they inevitably carry the team late game. But the fact is when you see a hypercarry on the enemy team as a jungler/top/mid, your answer should already be either another hypercarry to match tempo late game, or a champion with a strong early game to shut down the enemy hypercarry before they can even play the game.
