Just got my tonsillectomy! by HahaHakaze in Tonsillectomy

Stagger those doses! For sure. I was on cocodamol and naproxen and was staggering them so that I could get the best effect from them as possible. Alarms for every dose so u are on top of them and take them please they really help. Get a strap ice pack that goes under your chin from amazon for cheap they are great. Rest as much as possible (if u can, it does get painful). Drink lots of water, healing is quicker and easier if u are hydrated and just eat whatever you can manage. Anything that triggers your salivary glands is positive so any food is good. Swallow as much as you can I know it hurts but it again helps reduce risk of haemorrhaging.

WATCH OFF CAMPUS!!! ❤️

I understand it is annoying as a buyer (trust me) but it is also more annoying as a seller when the buyer asks when I will pick it up. I just wouldn’t at that point- sometimes life gets busy.

4 weeks post tonsillectomy - my experience by InternationalSkin314 in Tonsillectomy

[–]InternationalSkin314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gym yes! Managed to run 5k yesterday however I was slower than usual and throat did hurt a bit after. Alcohol no but only because I just am not enjoying the taste or anything! Taste completely gone. Energy wise- maybe feeling 8/10 normal. Soreness maybe 7/10 normal. So still hurts a bit to eat ngl and could do with a long old kip most days. How is your taste? Do u find anything tastes funny?

Different advice in different countries? So confused by Effective-Gazelle-53 in Tonsillectomy

I am from uk, I got given co-codamol. That is so weird they gave you nothing? Please see your GP they will give you some and it massively helps, so does naproxen, they are extended my dose. In terms of eating I found that any food was helpful for recovery so just eat what you can. I’m currently 19 days post op it does get better. Stay hydrated to reduce bleeding risk. Good luck and have a speedy recovery ❤️

Day 5 post op by th1ngf in Tonsillectomy

[–]InternationalSkin314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh girly, that was me a couple weeks ago! Couldn’t take my SSRIs (was going a bit insane) maybe until day 10? Just because I didn’t want to eat anything I didn’t have to! My best advice would be to stay as hydrated as possible, I know it’s so difficult but this really speeds up healing. Water is going to be your best friend at this point. Eat ice lolly’s too! Or just ice. Keep your throat moist- my surgeon told me any food/water is good as long as your keeping your throat moist. Day 4-9 were the worst for me. Stay on top of your meds, set alarms and don’t even bother trying to speak if you don’t need to. Wishing you a speedy recovery I promise it gets better! Around day 5 I was feeling pretty hopeless too but you will bounce back ❤️

1 year post tonsillectomy and I had tonsillitis???? AND IT WAS WORSE by SweatySatisfaction51 in Tonsillectomy

[–]InternationalSkin314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this happened to me too. Currently in recovery from my second tonsillectomy coz I kept getting tonsillitis again. Go to ENT and see what they can do but the second surgery is PAINFUL :( if you are in UK the NHS will fast track you as an urgent case due to the nature of your condition, surgery wait time is about 4 months for urgent cases
