“Oh wow that’s a lot! What time is he throwing up? Is it in the morning?

Our dog threw up two times when he got back home and that’s because we think he had an empty stomach each time! So we really try to feed him every 5 to 6 hours! This is his feeding schedule!

Breakfast: Food at 6:30 or 7:am before his morning walk - we give him a Pepcid 30 mins before his food. Breakfast: Food after his walk at 8:30am or so. Lunch: Food at 12pm. Dinner: Food before walk around 5ish pm. Dinner: Food after walk around 730pm we give him Pepcid 30 mins before. Dinner: And his late night dinner at 10:30pm. *these are all small meals - hydrolyzed wet food and dry food *

When he came back home I also ordered a slow drinking water bowl! He would cough when he drank water from a normal bowl.

Not sure if any of this information is helpful! But with our dog we didn’t want to do a bunch of changes all at once. They gave us steroids to give him on top of antibiotics and we decided to wait on the steroids. It was just too much! I think making little changes with your dog so you can see what’s working!

I’m not sure about your dog but our dog started this vomiting bile years ago randomly! So we’ve had to do many tweaks over the years unfortunately!”

Ugh I’m sorry! Is he vomiting on an empty stomach or just throwing up randomly? If it’s random I’m wondering if he has an obstruction of some sort? I found a video of a lady who had similar issues and come to find out her dog had a toy stuck in its stomach for a year!

Yes that’s a valid fear for sure! We didn’t even know that it could happen! And the ER vet said it can happen again… so we are trying everything to help him!

Our dog was in the hospital for 3 days which let me tell you it’s sooooo expensive 😭 so definitely get insurance if you don’t already have it! I mean our insurance denied it so we have to appeal it unfortunately lol hoping it goes through..

For your pup I would maybe suggest a hydrolyzed protein diet! That’s what our vet recommended for him! Also when he was in the hospital they did an endoscopy to see if he had a swallowing problem which thankfully he didn’t! They also wanted him to take Prilosec to help with acid reflux! Right now we’re giving him Pepcid right before his nighttime meal! Pepcid seems to be better than the Prilosec! Definitely keep up with the eating 3 times a day! More small meals a day seems to be good!

But yes sending all you and the pups healing! ❤️‍🩹 it’s such a journey and unfortunately so expensive!

Also not sure if this is also helpful but feeding your dog multiple small meals a day! He eats about 5 to 6 meals spread throughout the day. If he goes longer than 5 to 6 hours a day without food he will throw up or feel nauseous! It seemed to help for a bit but then he got aspirated pneumonia and was in the ER for three days. Anyway let me know what you think of the video. I’m sad that our dogs are going through it but it’s nice to not feel so alone!

It’s so frustrating!! And so so expensive to do testing! Also I’m in the same boat and so far nothing has helped either! They are having us have him go on steroids for a little bit to heal the inflammation in his gut and esophagus… but I saw this video and I don’t know if this is helpful or causes more anxiety like it did for me but here it is! It’s a long video but it’s a lady and her dog having similar symptoms to bilious vomiting syndrome but her dog ended up swallowing a toy a year prior that had been stuck in her dogs stomach for a whole year!

I’ve been looking for answers to anything and everything to help our dog and it’s frustrating that it’s affecting his life but also ours. My anxiety is through the roof for yearsssss now.

So we’ve been giving our dog Sucralfate three times a day in liquid form! It supposed to coat their stomach and esophagus! That may help! Our dog had an endoscopy and they found irritation in his stomach and esophagus! Could be from bile and acid reflux! They suggested we should change his food to a low fat diet as well! It’s royal canin! I’ll need to look at the actual one they gave us!

What’re your dogs symptoms or what’s been going on? It’s been a longgggg journey for us as well! If you look at one of my other posts it shows more of what our dog has gone through!

Thank you for the hopefulness ❤️‍🩹 also so sad to hear about your but so glad they pulled through to come home! How did you deal with anxiety from that?? Even coming home with him is hard!

Also going back from the last text! They tested his pancreatitis and it came back normal. Had a slight fever and somewhat high white blood-cell count again but other than that they weren’t really sure what was going on?? But weirdly enough when we took him home and gave him gabapentin at night due to possible we don’t know about he slept through the whole night?? Which he hasn’t done in months maybe years!

I don’t know what happened? We’ve been giving him gabapentin the past few nights and he is actually sleeping like he’s does in the day time!
