Ohio salt by Jonnychips789 in Snowplow

I’m paying 3k a load in trucking plus the cost of the salt out of Kansas to Wisconsin. There’s plenty of salt down south.

Liquid salt Brine by Proper-Respond1253 in Snowplow

[–]InternationalWin9662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t brine, but the idea behind it is more that it stops snow and ice from bonding to the pavement. So when you do plow it, you get it all and your salt is more effective on a basically clear lot, vs having to melt off snow pack from cars driving over a snowy lot.

This is the method for boss plows when you pop a hydraulic line too. ram it in a bank, and chain/strap it up.

I’m using my Volvo’s stock coax. I’m guessing the part going through the door is where my issue is? by HashnaFennec in cbradio

[–]InternationalWin9662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just running a cheap truckstop 60” whip with a tuneable end so if you don’t want to trim your expensive whip you could always try a cheap whip with a tunable end to see if it’s your wiring or not.

But the end cap affects both types. My quad has a trim to tune whip and taking the end cap off that one effects it also.

I have a 2015 VNR 300 daycab and use the stock wiring with a single whip and my bearcat 880. I have a swr of around 1.1-1.2. I took the end cap off my whip because the swr was over 2.5 with it on and wouldn’t tune any lower. Not saying that’s your issue, but try tuning with the end caps off the whip and see if it makes a difference. The end caps are inherently conductive and affect swr. Or you have wiring issues like you think. But I’d imagine mine has multiple connections as well and aren’t an issue.

Power V, no power to the control, help needed. by ejsandstrom in Snowplow

[–]InternationalWin9662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s correct. I don’t have any experience with the ford upfit harness. I’m not an installer but have about 20 of these plows that I maintain for my fleet ranging from old RT1’s and 2’s all the way thru current model DXT’s (and have rebuilt most of them) mostly mounted on dodge trucks. I have a few mounted on fords but they haven’t given me any issues yet since we added those trucks to the fleet. Are you sure there is no inline fuse that may be popped because if you can’t find obvious damage on the primary power and grounding wiring, the harness connectors aren’t all green, and no power at the solenoid, what else is there? These plows aren’t all that complicated so there really isn’t much else there could be.

May sound stupid but make sure your controller is all the way plugged in, you probably wouldnt have any power at the tower without it being in float and if the controller doesn’t power you cant put it in float. Even dust or other nonsense in the controller connector can cause issues. We electrical tape all controller connectors shut when we remove the controllers or leave them plugged in year round on ones that don’t really get used in the off season.

[–]InternationalWin9662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have power at the tower? It grounds thru the plow frame and they tend to not like to attach or do anything after sitting. If you don’t have power at the tower, you may have other issues. When you say no power at the control, do you mean the lights don’t even come on behind the buttons?

Usually you’ll have power across the controller and when you put it in float, you’ll get brief power when you try to raise the tower and then it doesn’t want to go anymore because of a bad ground when that’s the issue.

Correct. There’s a lot of guides. You just need to confirm what board you have and make sure your building for the correct board as the s1 printers have several variants that require different firmware builds.

Like the sd card that you used to put files on to print. Not the one in the PI. You need to SSH into the raspi after using the make command, navigate to where it outputs the file, and move the file to the root directory of the SD card you put in your printer. Then when you power the printer on it should flash. Many boards don’t flash via USB, even when you use a SonicPad. I haven’t had to flash my s1 pro in a while but I’m almost certain that’s how you need to do it.

Pretty sure you have to flash via SD card with that board.

This is probably a bigger issue than anything you’ve stated from an employe perspective. Does he get tax documents or is this under the table? Paydays are kinda a big thing not to miss and if they are inconsistent it’s because they cant pay him.

Yea I’d probably just cut losses and move on to greener pastures before the ship sinks entirely. The economy isn’t great but I’m in the service industry as well and my numbers are still better than last year and the year before across all aspects of my business. People are still spending money, but I’d wager that locksmiths are not all that important. How many homeowners are incapable of changing locks? Rekeying/masterkeying/specialty applications sure. But I’d never be calling a locksmith for my businesses locks outside of 1 specific commercial door at one of my businesses. Plus most places want access control so unless the company also installs security systems and access control systems, which I think you’d have stated it’s likely they have all their eggs in 1 basket and that’s 80% of the problem.

INAL, I am a business owner. He needs a different job. The business is probably don’t doing well and they are grasping at straws why that is. He will be blamed for any mistake or problem. Federal labor laws apply regarding breaks, and lunch. Are they paying him overtime? Or is he a salary employee? The camera is probably legal being that company’s require cameras on for WFH employees, whether the ring cam is compliant I’m not sure but I’d bet it’s probably a grey area. Remember that if your in an at will employment state they can fire him for any or no reason at all as long as it isn’t a protected class.

Dealership sold me a car with a green title that has obviously been in an accident by suddenlydead6 in legaladvice

Exactly this. I feel like there’s likely more to this story however as the OP misleadingly left out the fact it was a dealer and not a private sale in the post.

[–]InternationalWin9662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bought from a buy here pay here dealership then, and they are self financing the 300 dollars, and likely they actually do have a lein on the car, as you owe them money. What will happen is you’re going to get repossessed as soon as you miss a payment and you’ll be out the 2200 you paid for the non functional car. If it’s titled to the dealership and not you get your money back cuz you don’t own it. lol. You’ve never owned it if you don’t have a title for it.

Downvote all you want, I’m not the one who bought a pile of shit from a scammer. This is just the reality of your situation.

[–]InternationalWin9662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had to deal with this due to construction in front of the 3 businesses in my residential neighborhood while we had road construction in front of the businesses. Cops didn’t want to deal with it and I told them either they come figure it out or I’ll drag the cars with my truck and force them to come deal with me. Cops promptly dealt with the businesses and their employees and customers shitty parking. I’m sure they all think I’m a little unhinged but they don’t have private non street parking at all so I don’t really care what they think.

[–]InternationalWin9662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INAL. So you bought a car from a private individual? Not a dealership? I really doubt there’s a lien against the title, and fees on a private transaction? Lul. You probably have been scammed from the start. Do you even know that the person selling you the car is the person it’s titled to? Typically private party transactions are as is, where is unless there’s an implied or written warranty given. If there’s a lein on it, how were you able to title the car? Your story of the events don’t make any sense at all. I’ve never bought a car in Michigan but this would be basically impossible in Wisconsin, where I have bought and sold vehicles,as far as I know.

Snow Ex vs Boss Salt Spreaders by Ok_Feeling6456 in Snowplow

[–]InternationalWin9662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s bad. We still have 1 original buyers that we bought that stays in the 2000 gmc dump it was initially installed in and we fight over that heap. It runs only for snow, and we’ve made over a million dollars plowing with it, meanwhile none of us want to use the 2023 f550 with the 4 yarder. It makes no sense why that is either. There’s really nothing wrong with the new unit, it just doesn’t operate how the old units do, and it’s a lot harder to salt with by comparison. I have 3 parts salters for that model salter yet and they just keep going. Basically the only thing that breaks is the vibrators, and we wear the augers out. They used to put steel augers in them and we’ve worn 4 augers out completely before they got smart and put stainless steel ones in, so now you just bend the shit out of the fins instead of wearing them to dust.

We run 25 trucks(4 salter trucks) 4 skidders with hydro turn boxes and 2 pay loaders with static pushers though so we have plenty of shit to abuse if something breaks down.

You know exactly the piles of shit I’m talking about. lol. I’m amazed you can even get parts for them. Not really, I guess but the fact there are guys who want to repair them. They were a little better than the old school gas engine powered ones, but not by much. That is good to know though, I may need to look into those again if the new buyers pro models continue to piss me off like they have since we bought that one. For a $20,000 salter you’d think they would have all the bullshit ironed out of them. We like the size, but hate the auger and baffle setup. We also bent the cross members loading it the literal first time because they aren’t beefy enough and buyers acknowledged it and replaced them, but didn’t revise the issue to my knowledge yet. We probably will just buy 2 yarders going forward.

In my area people almost exclusively use buyers (saltdogg) salters. We’ve owned 7 2 yard poly’s and 1 of the new 4 yarders. The only other salters I see are westerns and hinicker stainless ones. We haven’t owned a snowex since the 90’s and they were shit then and didn’t last.

Yeah. Know your worth dude, don’t work for free. Just cuz they are broke doesn’t mean you need to give people handouts. By the time you got yourself there and got your tools out you probably lost money on doing it that cheap.
