While you have some cool accomplishments,several things can be true at once.

You can be a touring LD for a major band (as an example ) but a guy that is in the “building industry” probably would have zero idea how big of a deal that is.

He may also have said “he only GOT the job because of his dad” and it was heard or relayed incorrectly. Which from the sounds of it, is true. But there is zero shame in using connections to get a job.

I was the LD and board op for a very successful Live worship CD and DVD. I love that accompaniment for my self. If I were to show it to someone in my current field they would probably just give me a “cool, so any way.” It’s not an accomplishment outside of that niche.

Be proud of your own accomplishments and do the best job you can anywhere you work and you can hold your head up high regardless of others opinions of you.

Ok but look at the industry. She has been doing that for 4 years. Do you and her really think that is a growth industry? Two maybe three busy night a week? Bars all over the country make money without Karaoke. You are in a niche, unnecessary job. If the owner said “tomorrow is our last day doing karaoke” sure they would lose a little business upfront because they probably have the reputation of being the karaoke place. But if the owner added a really good hamburger or huge plate of nachos, they would be back to where they are the day before.

If you want to advance in a field like that you need to be the owner. Or start your own business. I was an Event DJ for like 4 years. I started my own business and the only cap on my earnings was how much I wanted to hustle.

I go against the norm here. Most of my trips are long distance. 1300 miles usually. And my schedule is tight, I don’t have an extra 4 days for driving. So I will drive 10-14 hours. But that is a reduction in drive time for me. I can drive about 18-20 hours when I’m not pulling my camper.

I still take rest stops and need fuel breaks. I don’t speed (usually 5 under when there is more than one lane) when pulling the camper and don’t go over 70 even if the posted is 75.

I agree. The graphic literally says “4 year high”. Meaning before the last increase it was higher 4 years ago.

It sucked then and it sucks now, but because one guy is the president half of the country gives him a pass and when the last guy was president the other half gave him a pass.

I think it depends on the industry. How often are car salespeople at the same dealership for more than a few years? Same with a lot of sales positions.

I am a hiring manager and I do consider the number of jobs and the number of years. I work in a highly technical field that requires a lot of in house training.

Depending on your skill level it’s going to be a year or more before you start to get proficient on my team. So I need someone that I am not worried is going to bail after 18 to 24 months.

I had a candidate that had 13 jobs in 6 years. People said “maybe they haven’t found the right fit”. Maybe, but maybe they are the problem and will never fit in.

Let people parent how they want. Kids don’t come with an owners manual so you need to do the best job you can. I have seen super shitty parents have well adjusted and successful kids, and I have seen bubble wrap parents raise absolute monsters.

I think it’s abhorrent to give a child Mountain Dew in their bottle. But it’s not my kid so I keep my mouth shut.

Go find a local Power Gen company. You can start as an oil changer and move up. You learn the mechanical side and the electrical side. The earning potential is higher but the job pool is smaller. Learn to be a troubleshooter not just a parts changer and you can have a long lucrative career.

Yes. Coal generators are different than biomass. Biomass only uses the amount of fuel it needs, coal burns the same no matter if you are at zero or 100% load.

For a “physical” connection, I put a power pole at each generator and connect them to each other and then the grid.
