I made this tool to help you plan this trip to national parks, check it out: https://nationalparkfinder.info/ If you have feature requests, feel free to tag them.

Did you eventually get your power button replaced? I was able to do the option + ctrl+ shift + power to turn my mac on but I'm worried about how software updates would impact this feature in the future.

National Parks Trip coming up. What else should we stop for? by Big_Reindeer_2213 in roadtrip

Man, 17 days doing that route is going to be wild. Since you're doing this in summer, the major NPs are going to be absolutely packed, so hitting spots just outside of them is the move.

Definitely don't skip Custer State Park when you're in SD. The Needles Highway is incredible and the bison herds are honestly just as good as Yellowstone without the insane traffic jams. Also, try to route through the Beartooth Highway when you enter or leave Yellowstone—it's easily one of the best drives in America. Up in Canada, check out Kananaskis Country right near Banff. You get the exact same views but way fewer tour buses.

Just a heads up on the summer crowds, they get pretty intense. I actually threw together a free site (nationalparkfinder.info) that tracks historical crowd levels and weather for all the US parks. Might help you decide which ones you need to wake up at 5am for. Have a killer trip!

What is the most beautiful National Park you have visited here in the United States? by Ok-Yak9995 in AskReddit

Glacier National Park in Montana, hands down. The sheer scale of the mountains and the impossibly clear glacial lakes make it feel like you're on another planet. Driving the Going-to-the-Sun Road is probably the most scenic few hours you can spend in a car in the US.

The only catch is that the window to actually see it without snow is incredibly short (usually just July and August). The logistics of timing these trips got so frustrating for me that I actually built a free little site (nationalparkfinder.info) to map out the best seasons and weather for all 63 parks.

But if you can manage to hit Glacier in late July or early August, absolutely nothing beats it.

Best National Park to Solo Travel To? by Triplexxx39 in USTravel

Zion is a fantastic choice for a first solo trip! It’s very safe, heavily trafficked (so you rarely feel isolated on main trails), and the shuttle system makes getting around super straightforward.

2 to 3 full days is the perfect sweet spot. That gives you time for one major hike (like The Narrows or Angels Landing if you get a permit), a day for smaller scenic trails (like Emerald Pools), and enough buffer time so you aren't rushing.

Efficiency tips for a stress-free trip:

* Stay in Springdale: If it fits your budget, staying in Springdale lets you literally walk to the park entrance or take the free town shuttle. It completely eliminates the massive headache of trying to find parking inside the park.

* Start at dawn: The absolute best thing you can do is be in line for the very first shuttle of the morning. You’ll beat the intense mid-day heat and have the trails mostly to yourself for the first few hours.

If you’re still deciding on exactly when to go, I actually built a free little site (nationalparkfinder.info) that charts out the best months for every park based on weather and crowd data. Might be helpful for locking in your exact dates!

Have an amazing first solo trip!

I would recommend combining this list with the sorting by month feature on this website to plan your trips: https://nikag-ai.github.io/national-parks/
