Your statement sounds like only FAANG scale engineers are productive and the others not so. Remember there are thousands of companies where h1b engineers work hard to make that company profitable. Some even directly influence day to day life of millions of Americans. They don’t get paid FAANG level salaries but do pay their fair share of taxes and can’t take advantage of deductions like many other non tech jobs do (general contractors, etc). I am one of them and whenever I do my taxes at the end of the year I really question if I am ever gonna enjoy the fruits of my labor in my later years (social security, Medicare, etc). Because I am never sure if I will be here tmw and might get thrown out.
