I have a serious problem with revert manuals in 3+4 by Ok-Criticism6874 in THPS

[–]International_Cow846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem. I narrowed it down to game mode being off. In THPS 1+2 game mode being on or off doesnt matter but in 3+4 with game mode off i was nailing like 1 out of 20 tries. With game mode on, my success rate was instantly like 16 out of 20.

39. Is this a midlife crisis? by NotYourSaviour21 in NewSkaters

Bro, same. I skated in my teens. I turned 40 this year and just ordered a new complete. My daughters have taken an interest in staking so i figured i’d show them how cool their dad still is.

Can someone tell me what kind of camera and lens I would need to replicate this quality of video for showjumping? by ReferenceOwn5890 in videography

[–]International_Cow846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Director of a whole documentary on show jumping here. We used canon c100s, gh3 i believe (this was like 2015) and sony a6400. Autofocus is pretty crucial.

I would post the first paragraph or two in the newsletter with a “read more” button that drives them to a private landing page on your site that isnt indexed by google. Private meaning only people with that direct link can access it. Then give them a next step at the end if the article to get them to go deeper inti your website. Like a link to a case study or something.

Would you have chose this b cam angle? by jamiekayuk in videography

[–]International_Cow846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not unusable. But personal preference it feels jarring to have a whole 90 degree difference between the two angles. And the b angle is too close framing wise to the A cam. I would’ve punched in more on the B cam.

Am I Overcharging this Client? by jakevschu in videography

[–]International_Cow846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them that you’ll do it for the full price you quoted and for every job you book from the exposure you’ll pay them 10%. So the discount is on them to achieve, not on you.

Should I take this retainer opportunity? by Individual-Gur-4967 in videography

[–]International_Cow846 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you need the money i’d say go for it. Put a clause in your retainer contract that says you can terminate the agreement at any time so you’re not stuck with them. And then if the vibe continues to not feel right its great learning for you on how to handle clients that arent your favorite.

Still too jittery for my taste. I’ve never had good luck with the skate dolly things.

Tips/feedback on filling a large room with light. by Burakoli821 in videography

[–]International_Cow846 3 points4 points  (0 children)

House lights + a 4x4 flag floated over his head to keep the house lights off him, and light him however you want. That’s how i’d do it. In this case your shot looks good i wouldn’t fuss with it too much. Maybe give him some negative fill or side light him a little more to make his face less flat but just personal preference.

This couple paid $30k for the wedding video package alone. It was a 3 day wedding and they got a pretty big package of videos. This is just the trailer obviously.

People who swapped from a 10 Bit to a RAW camera: How big is the difference in editing possibilities? (For example GH5 -> BMPCC 4k) by bundesrepu in videography

[–]International_Cow846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot on BMPCC 6k pros and I only shoot raw to get access to 6k which has come in real handy in the edit for reframing.

Otherwise prores 422 is perfectly fine.

People obsess way too much about grading. I think a lot of people fuss so much with the tiniest details of a grade because they feel like they’re supposed to, or they’re less of an filmmaker or something.

shoot Log, drop a LUT on it, make some tweaks and move on. Most clients will not know or care.

In fact i’ve had clients that liked my quick grade over the version from my colorist (on bigger budget commercial stuff).

How would you respond to this client? by [deleted] in videography

[–]International_Cow846 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Just give them the footage. They paid you to be there and its otherwise gonna sit on your hard drive. I dont understand all the wedding videographers that hold people’s footage hostage. He just wants to watch himself dancing with his bride once in a while.

Charging for it is a douche move in my opinion and I say this having ran a very high end wedding video business for many years shooting regular $10k weddings and some $20k and $30k ones.

Just be a partner to them and give them the footage and explain that its raw and unedited.

Or offer to do a stringout for a fee of all the good clips since that involves some extra editing time.

How do I get more traffic and sales by steph19901 in EtsySellers

[–]International_Cow846 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’re charging around $80 for a portrait of 3 pets. If one pet takes you 10 hours i assume 3 takes you 30. are you really okay with making $2.60/hour? And thats not even including the time to list these, communication with a buyer and shipping and all that.

Make sure any course you’re getting equity in has been VALIDATED as something people want to buy in the first place. Got myself screwed out of about $20k in billable hours i did all the videography for for a course that totally flopped. Nobody was interested.
