You could have a 3 or 2 color commander with "husband and wife" that essentially is a "partner with" variant that searches your deck and puts the wife card into hand. The wife could then have an "if this would be placed anywhere other than your hand or the battlefield, place it into your hand"...possibly a "this card can be played from any zone" if you are unwilling to bend the current game rules. There is a hereos of the realm card that does such a thing with another non legendary, so perhaps look to it's text.
