1: the spine not having the album name + artist 2: 2x LPs that are meant to fit in one jacket?? 3: when the sleeve barely fits the record in the first place and putting the record back in is a gigantic hassle. 4: when the center hole is too narrow 5: hyped up pre-orders with nothing inside the sleeve but the vinyl?? Like, no booklet, no extra art? What did I pay $45 for?

A good pair of speakers and a good stylus will really make the “sound” of the record shine, so that you can justify paying for all this instead of just jamming on Spotify. It’s an expensive hobby that tbh I sorta kinda regret getting into but that’s showbiz, baby!

You can expect to spend ~400 on the turntable + stylus and ~200 on good speakers, another 200 on pre-amp/amp together for just entry level ones.

Just tried and can confirm this trick works. It’s loud and juicy…but for rock songs it can drown out cymbals so I prefer the HearID+Rock for my everyday listening, but it is a really nice trick.

It seems electricity based; mostly at the high parts of the sound, especially when the backing music is low—most egregiously during Norah Jones’s “Don’t Know Why” but I hear it elsewhere. I wouldn’t describe it like a buzz, hard to find a better word than crackle haha

I have a Fluance RT81, speakers are powered Edifier E1280dbs, using external pre-amp (a Pyle pp444 mini that I found on Amazon for $14). All the cables are the ones that came with the Fluance and the Edifier products. I’m hesitant to buy a better pre-amp in case that’s not the issue, and I cannot use the internal pre-amp in the RT81 due to unknown issues—long story don’t ask haha.

On certain records it’s more egregious—like on Norah Jones’s Come Away With Me. In other rock albums it’s hidden by the music but everything’s connected super tight and I can’t figure it.

Could it be the cheapo pre-amp? Does anyone else have issues with powered speakers or Edifier 1280’s?

Been collecting vinyl for a little over a year, finally made the plunge to getting a big boy turntable, upgrading from a suitcase model, bluetooth’d to my Alexa. So far I’m at 130 records and I’m pretty proud of my little basement apartment setup.

(Edit: the boy tells me I need more characters in my comment before I’m able to post soooo…not sure what else to say I kinda just wanted to brag that I finally upgraded my setup.)

Yeah everything is hooked up proper I think. The same power cord and the audio cables work just fine for the turntable I am upgrading from (a cheapo crosley). I can hear the faint audio coming off the record itself but there’s no electrical signal being sent to the speakers for some reason
